Reports: Bill McRaven resigns from Pentagon board after op-ed criticizing Trump

Bill McRaven, former chancellor of the University of Texas System and a current UT-Austin professor, resigned on Aug. 20 from the Pentagon’s technology advisory board, multiple news outlets reported Thursday.

His resignation came four days after The Washington Post published an opinion piece he wrote that criticized President Donald Trump’s decision to revoke the security clearance of former CIA director John Brennan.

“Through your actions, you have embarrassed us in the eyes of our children, humiliated us on the world stage and, worst of all, divided us as a nation,” McRaven wrote. “If you think for a moment that your McCarthy-era tactics will suppress the voices of criticism, you are sadly mistaken.”

The board McRaven resigned from was a group of technology leaders and innovators tasked with advising the secretary of defense.

McRaven, a retired four-star admiral and Navy SEAL, teaches classes at the LBJ School of Public Affairs. He majored in journalism at UT.

You can bet your britches that Darth Mattis read him the riot act, USMC style.

I am sure Mattis is perfectly capable of doing exactly that. 👍👊

Yes and Benedict Arnold was very accomplished too!

Like winning the Battle of Saratoga so the American Revolution got international support so we could win the war?

Yes he was.

Considering that the illiberal Left actually is the people that the anticommunists were trying to prevent ever having influence, that there is nothing remaining of the old extreme Left that’s extreme to them anymore, and that they are now the tall grass the likes of AntiFa hides in I would opine that we aren’t nearly enough hostile enough to their ideology and ambitions.

Whatever you once were, sir, you are now a village idiot.

It wouldn’t surprise me. I hope he spends tens of thousands of his own money and gets trounced.

Fox was pushing McRaven as this big inspirational speaker and all I could think of was Obama picked him and I wondered, then found this: ” Admiral McRaven laughed and said “ Okay , I know “ A short time later , he became more emboldened . “ I know President Obama and I see him often . I don’t just know him as a president ; I know him as a man .” He pounded his fist on our table . “ And he is a good man “ Politely , I touched his arm , “Sir I’m going to have to ask you not to mention that man’s name in my house .” Pg 156-157 - “Betrayed “ The Shocking True Story of Extortion 17 , as told by a Navy SEAL’s father http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3121531/posts?page=7#7 26 posted on ‎5‎/‎24‎/‎2014‎ ‎5‎:‎49‎:‎16‎ ‎AM by PghBaldy

When I was interested in a possible future in Petroleum Engineering, I took a Geology class to see captured my interest.
3/4 of the class was made up by Journalism Majors to get their 3 Science Credits and it was super easy.
It always made me wonder how many got “D’s”

I found the same thing with business classes that I took for general ed requirements. In one 300-level (junior) class, I had two funerals in a week to go to. Rough week for the family. When I came back Friday, there was a test that I had completely forgotten about. I hadn’t studied 5 minutes for it. Going in completely cold, I still scored a 94%. The people that couldn’t get a B in that class would do a lot better to save the money on school and go get a manual labor job now.

I took a forestry class that was like that, too. If you want to see something funny, take a freshman level environmental engineering class. The treehuggers in those classes don’t last long. The instructor is talking partial differential equations and the treehuggers in there think a natural log is what you burn to keep warm when camping.

It doesn't surprise me a bit that McRaven knows Hussein "as a man." Richard Branson does, too. Google "Branson Obama kitesurfing" for the fruitiest pictures ever.

In every picture of B&O together, there is no daylight between them. When you see a pic of Hussein and his wife walking while holding hands, they're always at least 3 feet apart and at least one of their arms is at an odd angle:

Yes and today that is precisely what he is known for!
That, and taking Montreal only to give it back in exchange for
Plattsburgh which was considered more strategic!

His father was a high officer. Legacies always get an easy ride in the military if they’re officers like daddy was. McRaven sure wasn’t aiming high with his cut-rate jock degree in journalism, he’s one of those guys that just slides uphill. McCain was a “hero” who was loved and he was total garbage as a naval officer and pilot.

He was an active duty Navy Seal until he was a 45 year old Captain and broke his back and pelvis in parachute jump in 2001.

He graduated from Seal class 95 in 1978. That’s over 20 years of active duty and he wasn’t washed out.

You’re comparison with McCain is spurious at best.
