Pompeo: There's no precedent for what Kerry did
Arutz Sheva ^ | 15/9/18 | Elad Benari

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Friday blasted former Secretary of State John Kerry’s meetings with Iranian officials since leaving office.

"What Secretary Kerry has done is unseemly and unprecedented," Pompeo told reporters at the State Department, according to CNN.

"This is a former secretary of state engaged with the world's largest state sponsor of terror and according to him, he was talking to them, he was telling them to wait out this administration," Pompeo added.

"You can't find precedent for this in US history and the secretary ought not engage in this kind of behavior," Pompeo continued. "It's beyond inappropriate."

Asked if he thought Kerry's meeting had been illegal, Pompeo said he would leave the "legal determinations to others."

Kerry admitted this week that he met with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif “three or four times” since leaving office but denied he was trying to coach him through the Trump administration’s rejection of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal.

In an interview earlier this week, Kerry justified his meetings with Iranian officials, claiming, “Every secretary of state, former secretary of state continues to meet with foreign leaders, goes to security conferences, goes around the world. We all do that. And we have conversations with people about the state of affairs in the world in order to understand them. We don't negotiate. We are not involved in interfering with policy. But we certainly have reasonable discussions about nuclear weapons, the world, China, different policies obviously.”

It does have precedent. Teddy Kennedy in Moscow, Jesse Jackson in Damascus, Jimmuh Cahtah here and there. It's a bad precedent. And telling a hostile foreign leader to 'wait out' an administration IS INTERFERENCE OF THE VERY WORST KIND.

Nail him for high treason. Hang him higher than Haman.

You beat me to it. Ted Kennedy at least twice in the 1980s discussed with the Soviets about cooperating to take-down Reagan.

Damn straight. Pity he wasn’t number five in Kent State, too. Then it might have been worth it.

Actually, I was thinking of Benedict Arnold, and the Dems who told Ortega to keep quiet in Nicaragua in the 80s, but those will work too.

Kerry , Hillary, Obama and other Demorats have been traveling the International stage, meeting with Nation Leaders ever since Trump won.

The idea is to reassure International leaders Demrats will not only obstruct this administration but they will be back in power....therefore International leaders are to stall as long as possible.

.... Well .... Personally I am sitting here wondering why the Logan Act was not even mentioned by Pompeo and why it is not brought into play here.

The Logan Act (1 Stat. 613, 18 U.S.C. § 953, enacted January 30, 1799): is a United States federal law that criminalizes negotiation by unauthorized persons with foreign governments having a dispute with the United States.

If you're looking for justice that ain't going to happen with our broken system

until the swamp is cleared out......expecting this to happen now is just

foolish thinking. Exposing and revealing is only part one

...and that's not yet finished..

Kerry has been getting away with free wheeling anti-American activities for far too many years. It is long overdue for him to be shut down. If he were effective it would matter.

This takes part in the larger context of an Obama government-in-exile operating in plain view.
