U.S. media reports said Friday that President Donald Trump has instructed aides to proceed with tariffs on $200 billion more in Chinese products... Last week, Trump threatened even more tariffs on Chinese items — duties on another $267 worth of goods, which when combined with the others would cover virtually all the products that China sends to the United States. "That changes the equation," he told reporters.

The earlier round of tariffs on $50 billion worth of Chinese imports cover only about 10% of the total import volume - just a warning shot.
This package that the President just directed will jump it to half of all Chinese imports. The next package (being prepared) would take it to 100%.
After that, tariffs could go be raised to higher and higher amounts on each item. This round is basically a 10% tax on the items identified. After all products are covered with a 10% tariff, the rate could potentially be raised to 20% (or more) in future rounds.
The bottom line is that tariffs can simply FORCE producers to leave China, and most to return to America.
Before imposing tariffs could work, the backdoors for Chinese imports to evade them (through NAFTA or EU countries) had to be closed. Now those conditions have been met to apply strong measures on China's unfair practices.
Next year, the global realignment will be taking place in earnest. Sell your stock in China.

From my personal situation, I have no need to buy anything made in China for at least a year.
I agree, but nothing has happened yet.
It is time to act Mr. President.
Too many people have been sold out to China, for far too long.

All this points to one important FACT, and that is that, China’s economy is wholly dependent on the American market. Without the U.S. imports from China, China would revert to being no better off than Somalia.
The big problem is, our entire establishment is completely sold out to China.
All of them.
U.S. is going to ultimately win this trade war. We are playing in a position of strength (economy) while China is playing a dead’s man hand of sorts. We’re just waiting to see when China will fold. Their gamble is looking for political signs that Trump is finished whether through mid terms or that they can ride it out until 2020 and read tea leaves that he will be defeated. That’s a big gamble because 2 years or crushing tariffs can destroy a lot

10% tariffs on all Chinese imports, would produce about $50 billion in new annual revenue for the treasury (double the projected wall cost).
Make China pay for the wall, and try to get reimbursed from Mexico.
But seriously, those tasty revenues will develop their own constituency, just as now there are Americans whose bread is buttered through selling out America to China. The balance of forces will shift, along with the money flows.
I imagine they’re praying for an impeachment miracle, and getting assurances and counsel from their globalist buddies in Congress and elsewhere.
Maybe now I’ll be able to get a crock pot (possibly filled with lead) that is not Made in Red China. :)
