Report: Canada Comfortable Resisting Trump By Intentionally Missing Trade Negotiation Timeline…
Conservative Treehouse ^ | 9-15-2018 | sundance

According to a CBC article citing a “Senior Canadian Official”, the Trudeau government is completely “comfortable” missing an October 1st deadline to join the U.S-Mexico trade alliance:

…”The source who spoke to CBC News on background, due to the sensitivity of the talks, said the external political pressure “is not a good enough reason,” for Canada to be forced into a fast finish.”… (more)

This statement follows a series of actions by Canadian Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland and Justin Trudeau which highlights their intent to resist any trade agreement while counting on domestic politics to deliver electoral forgiveness. Indeed for all intents and purposes it would appear Justin and Chrystia are willing to damage their economy for political benefit. (emphasis mine)

Hoping the Canadians will direct their ire (due to the economy disadvantage) towards the great satin, Trump and the US.

The very definition of "damage their economy for political benefit".

TOKYO— Toyota Motor Corp.
Wednesday that its shipments from Japan to the U.S. rose 22% in April, highlighting the problem it faces if the Trump administration makes good on threats to impose higher tariffs on imports.

The problem is crystallized in one model: the RAV4 sport-utility vehicle.
It is the most popular Toyota among American consumers—and none are made in the U.S.

>More than half are imported from Japan, while the rest are made in Canada and imported tariff-free under the North American Free Trade Agreement.

Earlier this month, the Trump administration said it was considering a plan that would increase tariffs on cars and car parts, citing national security concerns, with possible duties on automobile imports of up to 25%.

I’m wondering if Canada has assurances that their problems will be reimbursed or they will receive donations in kind from other countries, for standing up to Trump.

BULLHOCKEY! Why isn’t the AMERICAN ICON JEEP an American product anymore?????????? Same as Chrysler and many other formerly American products! I will never drive a Jap car or a German car. If it isn’t AMERICAN, I’m not having it!

I have had 14 Jap cars all better than american cars of equal price. However the last three were made in Ohio. Does that make them Japmerican?

Pretty stupid if it is.

I doubt there is any vehicle made 100% in the USA anymore.

I would be amazed if there is that is even 50% made in America.

The best you can hope for is final assembly in the USA.

Bingo.

No doubt this is the Sock Puppet/Justin ( G.Butts) strategy.
Scuttle NAFTA, allow damage to the economy, blame Trump and run as a ploy “nationalist”. The Only man who will protect you from Trump because the Conservative party are allied with the USA.

Its a winning strategy despite Justin specifically stating Canada is a “ post nation State...no national identity...”

Then you will have an inferior vehicle. As for why? Ask the UAW workers who continue to churn out inferior build quality vehicles, ask the managers that made terrible decisions, ask the executives that made terrible decisions AND had their heads in the sand as the markets changed AND penny pinched AND decided that planned obsolescence was a great thing and made cars that would *just* last as long as the loan.

You can get a great American-designed, American-assembled car with over 70% American made parts. It’s just going to have a Toyota, Honda, Hyundai or Kia logo on it and it won’t have been made in a UAW plant by lazy, sloppy UAW workers.
