Facebook Inc. FB, +0.59% said Thursday that it would begin to fact-check photos and videos shared to its platform. So far, most of the work done by human fact-checkers on Facebook has been geared toward articles, the company said in a release. Facebook announced Thursday that it would use a machine-learning model to identify potentially inaccurate photo and video content and then send those items to human fact-checkers for review. "Many of our third-party fact-checking partners have expertise evaluating photos and videos and are trained in visual verification techniques, such as reverse image searching and analyzing image metadata, like when and where the photo or video was taken," the company said. Facebook is looking for content that is manipulated, fabricated, or out of context, among other things.

Facebook needs to get out of the validation\verification, “deciding-what’s-right-business!”!! They’re just a carrier just like the old analog phone companies. It doesn’t matter what’s said, who its said to or who says it and whether it’s political anything! It’s none of their business, their business is to supply the channel. If that’s too simple & beneath their moral dignity they need to sued & regulated into oblivion!!
I mean, I know the answer is because "Trump voters make funny memes the people circulate around the web while liberal memes suck."

This is going to be fun to watch.
FB could solve the problem. Now, it’s gotten real boring. I miss the discussions that were started with WikiLeaks (mostly accurate) revelations. Now, the only stuff posted is cutesy stuff, clickbait and advertising. Oh, yeah, and my friends whose cats are playing with balls of yarn or they’re cooking a zucchini omelette or whatever. Why don’t they use some of their zillions of dollars and set up a reliable news agency to rival the bogusness of ALL “reliable” sources? If they hired responsible journalists with a high standard for objective reporting and kept it far away from their SF lunatics, it would be doable. Then, people could post anything they wanted outside the “official news” site, people could discuss it, and FB could allow freedom of speech.

But memes can be extremely illustrative!
I read a post about FB new ways they are going to make sure “people get correct information” and the comments were 90% plus that FB should stay out of it,they are not a news agency and basically no one in their right mind goes to FB to be informed about anything beyond their own family and friends.
Tons of comments against what they are doing, but I bet they still do it all because the dims want them to do this...

Does anyone really believe any meme is accurate? They are not meant to be accurate, they are meant to be funny. It is called satire!
(True some try to be informative, but I personally doubt anything listed in a meme no matter if I agree with it or not).
