28-year-old Syrian national Ibrahim Ali, who came to Canada as a refugee, has been accused of murdering a 13-year-old girl in Burnaby, British Colombia, whose body was found last year.
The Syrian refugee, who came to Canada through a private sponsorship programme, was arrested last week by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) after a large-scale investigation into the death of the 13-year-old, who was found in Burnabys Central Park in July 2017.
In court, the 28-year-old was charged with first-degree murder. He required an Arabic interpreter, with proceedings delayed as the court waited for the interpreter to arrive.

They really need better security in the courtroom
He did it in court? /s
Very misleading headline. It does sound like the murder took place right in the courtroom.
Rope, tree.
At least there should be plenty of witnesses.
He murdered the girl in court? WTF
And the same with people who write TV commercials. I'd have flunked third grade English if I turned in assignments like what now is broadcast to millions of people.
And it really irritates me.

A church group sponsored him and got him to Canada.
That meme has a grammatical error. Love the irony!
Justin Trudeau is willing to sacrifice such little Canadian girls to terrifying deaths, if it allows him to signal his virtue superiority - especially as compared to Trump!
Hell! He is eager to send a few (however many) such girls to the slaughter, if he can pose as better than Trump!
I wonder if it was intentional.
