Former NHL Player Receives Death Threats After Legally Hunting A Grizzly Bear

Former professional hockey player Tim Brent, who played for the Toronto Maple Leafs and Carolina Hurricanes, has received death threats after legally harvesting a grizzly bear, The Resurgent reported.

Brent, who's married to well-known hunter Eva Shockey, posted a picture of his harvest on social media. It wasn't long before anti-hunters chimed in and ridiculed him for his actions:

Brent harvested the grizzly and a moose with his father-in-law in the Yukon. People, however, were more upset by the pictures of the grizzly than they were the moose.

Here are just a few of the responses Brent received:

So there was a majestic creature, minding it's own business, in it's own house. Eating fish & berries & pooping fertilizer & seeds for the future. And you killed it. For a selfie. God Damn your self importance.

Would be a lovely if a bear came in to your neighbourhood and killed you. Then got his little bear mates to take a picture of him sitting on your corpse.

I wish it had eaten you.

I hope you die a very slow and painful death you are everything I hate about humanity.

Brent responded to anti-hunters with one image that prove exactly why people in this country continue to hunt:

He did the right thing. Screw them.

I’ve started nosing around on Instagram.

Folks will post the cutest little photo of animals, and the nature NAZIs come in and find a beef with them. Then they swarm the thread and say some of the most ignorant things.

I call them out as “Concern Trolls” all the time.

Why is everyone so enamored over telling the world about every second of their waking existence? Are we really that insecure? Just live your life and shut the F up. No one needs to know or cares what you do.

Legal kill, animal meat and hide used and ethical take rules observed. Good for Tim. The people bitching can suck a rock. Nothing to see here but a great looking bear.

Butchering out that size bear and then trekking back to sort of civilization with the hide and meat would be a taxing operation.

Good response.

“Eating fish & berries”

yeah, how about those fish, just minding their own business, in their own house, until that bear came along, killed and ate them.

Agree - either close off public Facebook access or simply E-Mail the pics.

Obviously nothing wrong with killing the bear (especially considering what a pain in the ass they are to humans), but he shouldn’t be surprised, AT ALL, that Leftists will jump on him about it.

The haters probably don’t have a second thought about eating a good steak. Morons. And maybe, unknown to us all, arugula screams when it’s being eaten.

You are my kind of guy. My thoughts exactly.

Something makes humans overactive busybodies, and social media brings out the worst....

Adolf Hitler and vegetarianism
Wikipedia
Analysis
[Excerpt:]
If ever a scene showed (even fictional) cruelty to or death of an animal, Hitler would cover his eyes and look away until someone alerted him the scene was over. Alexander Cockburn also wrote of Hitler:
Nazi leaders were noted for love of their pets and for certain animals, notably apex predators like the wolf and the lion. Hitler, a vegetarian and hater of hunting, adored dogs and spent some of his final hours in the company of Blondi, whom he would take for walks outside the bunker at some danger to himself. He had a particular enthusiasm for birds and most of all for wolves. [...] Goebbels said, famously, ‘The only real friend one has in the end is the dog. . . The more I get to know the human species, the more I care for my Benno.’ Goebbels also agreed with Hitler that ‘meat eating is a perversion in our human nature,’ and that Christianity was a ‘symptom of decay’, since it did not urge vegetarianism. [...] On the one hand, monsters of cruelty towards their fellow humans; on the other, kind to animals and zealous in their interest. In their very fine essay on such contradictions, Arnold Arluke and Boria Sax offer three observations. One, as just noted, many Nazi leaders harboured affection towards animals but antipathy to humans. Hitler was given films by a maharaja which displayed animals killing people. The Führer watched with equanimity. Another film showed humans killing animals. Hitler covered his eyes and begged to be told when the slaughter was over.[29]

That's a beautiful bear. Killing it for the thrill. And maybe some meat. A nice coat. I used to beg my father to take me hunting with a real gun when I was a child. For the thrill of it. He never would do it; I think he had no taste for killing even though growing up on a farm. I'm glad now I never did it, have no desire to kill creatures. But I still eat them, much less now, but have to dissociate from how it was killed.

Just read a click bait story about some Russian fishermen and tourists in Yakutsk or somesuch place rescued a darling but desperate pair of cubs that were drowning. 15M likes. See the Daily Mail for that story.

Tip: When you suspect it's click bait like those many tempting stories that go on and on through many pages and ads, google with keywords the source which will usually take you back to the original story that you can enjoy in the usual manner.

It seems like conflated, confusing bear stories. I had to really hunt for the bear who hugged the man, and it doesn't seem related to the bear cubs rescued by fisherman story.

Then there is this one who the people owned or rescued them are reunited.

The little girl at the end whose mother surprised her with what looke like a black kitty crying for joy tears me up.

Clearly, some people prefer animals to human beings.

Sounds like the PETA crowd.
