I agree with you on all counts.
It will never be fast enough or decisive enough for the "get a rope and hang 'em high" crowd, but this is a delicate political moment just weeks ahead of the midterm. He must give the appearance to the moderates and independents who are inclined to vote Republican that he is making a great effort to accommodate the lady. To do anything less could cost the Republicans the Senate. We may not like those actions but the Republicans have a paper thin majority in a nation which is equally divided.
Senator Grassley and Senator McConnell working in concert have given us more judicial confirmations in the first 18 months of President Trump's term than ever in the history of the United States. And there will be more before the year is out.
Mitch McConnell's speech at the Values Voter Summit is worth a listen, even if, like myself, you are not a big fan of McTurtle:

I think you’re right. Grassley is smarter than we give him credit for. The Commitee vote will take place on Monday as planned. Then according to the Breitbart article, Senate Cloture vote on Wed., with the full Senate’ vote on Thurs. I believe he’s got all the votes lined up.
I think he’s through with setting deadlines. He’s making it clear to Ford’s team that they can come in whenever they want, but it’s not going to affect the vote schedule.
I stand corrected on the getting him out of the committee, but if two GOPers vote NO in the full Senate, we still lose.
2 simple words “Conference Call”. Jeez, do they live in caves or what? Stop all this nonsense and hook up a Conference call and have the committee in a room together with her on the other end. No press, no audience being paid to heckle just the facts!

Iowans are all about “fairness” and being good sports. Don’t worry, Grassley can be as hard as Hickory when he has to be, but he knows the optics of this situation are fraught with danger to the Republican Party.

Exactly. We can say we tried working with her six... seven ...times and SHE refused. A few days ago the independents thought we’re not being fair to her. We need them to win in 6 weeks. We have to win the house and the senate. Once we do the democrats are toast. Then they will have to put on their hoods join antifia and show everyone who they really are. In a year or two Trump will appoint Ginsburgs replacement and then it will be war. They will be completely unhinged. But God IS on our side.
Ten bucks says they didn’t “extend” the deadline. Now there is NO deadline. They will just schedule the hearing for Monday morning and be done with it.

The committee can recommend, recommend against, or send no recommendation... in all three cases, a vote still takes place. Thomas was confirmed after the committee sent no recommendation...
We were promised that this list would be released about a year ago. Where the hell is it?

Chuck has bent over backwards to kindly and politely accommodate this woman who presents with preposterous charges that even democrats find not credible.
That time has past. She shall the not rule the Senate proceedings or the timetable for SCOTUS appointments. DiFi’s refusal to share evidence and her last minute timing demonstrate that this has always been a ruse.

Dear CHUCK- Half of her own party admits her allegation is not credible. It’s all a show.
CHUCK GRASSLEY -You are doing back flips and contorting yourself to the point of being a FOOL.
Chuck is being used like a TOOL & an old FOOL to the detriment of the Senate, the rule of law, and the Supreme Court. Do not sacrifice this fine judge to appease the opposition.
