A thought just occurred to me that might explain why Avenatti has gone silent:

Look at the e-mail chain posted below.

This isn't just a zany Twitter post by Avenatti or an outlandish claim he made in the media. He's communicating with a senior attorney in the U.S. Senate in the matter of a U.S. Supreme Court confirmation process.

Notice how seriously the Senate attorney takes Avenatti's allegations.

I believe Michael Avenatti has received a subpoena from the U.S. Senate or the U.S. Department of Justice to explain himself.

Notice the timestamps on those e-mails, too. They were clearly printed or screen-captured on the West Coast, which suggests Avenatti was the source.

1. Davis sends an e-mail at 4:42 PM that references a 7:33 PM Tweet -- which makes no sense unless the 4:42 PM timestamp is in Pacific Time and the 7:33 PM reference is to Eastern Time.

2. This means Davis sent his message to Avenatti NINE MINUTES after Avenatti's post on Twitter.

Look at Item #2 again, folks. You think these Senate Judiciary Committee people aren't taking this sh!t seriously?
