He remains CEO. I doubt that this will impact daily operations. Finances might even improve with someone else acting as Chairman.

I think Elon simply needs to take a small sabbatical & refresh his mind, body and soul.

They’re just being stupid and judgmental, one of the favorite hobbies around here. Musk is one of those rare innovative geniuses like Howard Hughes. And old Howard had plenty of gov’t contracts too, probably a whole lot more than Musk can dream of.

Moreover the tax credits he’s been using are open to every company in the US that can figure out how to generate them. And unlike Solyndra that it gets compared to, Tesla is a going concern producing a real product. The tax credits are about to end, at least for Tesla, because it is based upon a production target that once achieved ends the credits.

I don’t hate him. Don’t worship him either. I kinda like him and his grand plans.

Space X is terrific. Tesla is a sideshow.

>> left brain cred

He’s an innovator, not an engineer. Could be the right hemisphere that’s the catalyst to his success.

“But I like Elon Musk”

Same here. He reminds me a bit of Steve Jobs, only he is even more creative, more driven, unafraid, unconventional and a risk taker.

He’s much more of a libertarian than a liberal.

Enjoyed reading his biography... he’s truly a force of nature.

...

All this is nothing new for him, just on a larger scale. He was ousted as CEO of his first two companies and he came back bigger than ever.

Correct. Plus he owns 20 percent of the stock and has options to own much more based on performance. The Chairman controls the board who is supposed to look out for the investors.

I’m neutral, but he is by far the most interesting person to follow in the tech/business world these days.

I didn’t care much for Steve Jobs, but he was interesting person to follow, too.

Re Tesla: I think “sideshow” undermines some fantastic design and implementation.

I personally don’t want anything to do with electric at this point in the tech. Batteries need an unprecedented breakthrough. Plus I can’t pull my boat with an electric “truck.”

That said, the first time I got in a Tesla was a revelation in terms of design. I looked around and said aloud “all car dashes will look like this in 10 years.” I have started to notice in commercials that it is happening.

I think, barring a technology breakthrough, Musk will end up being seen like Tucker. If Tesla is lucky they merge with a traditional car company.

Don’t get me wrong. Teslas are awesome. I just don’t think he’s gonna make money on them. Agree about the dash.
