Why is the Kavanaugh Supreme Court fight so vicious? Because government is too important
Fox News ^ | September 30, 2018 | John R Lott Jr

Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh is right that Senate’s confirmation process is "a national disgrace." The damage done to Kavanaugh’s family is horrific. Senator Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., was clear: “What you want to do is destroy this guy's life, hold this seat open and hope you win in 2020.”

The threats and vicious messages that his family and Christine Blasey Ford have received are a national embarrassment.

Hopefully, everyone other than the most partisan Americans wants to fix this and stop it from ever happening again. But the question is how? What went wrong?

The problem has been getting worse for a long time. The solution, though, is very simple – but it isn’t what most liberals will want to hear.

The government has too much of a stake in too many peoples’ lives these days. And it is the very drive-by liberals to champion big government and its involvement in every aspect of American life that has made the question of who sits on the Court so crucial.

Reduce the role of government, and we reduce the vitriol over Supreme Court nominations. It is that simple.

This is because when so much is at stake, the fiercer the fight will be over everything from who is on the Supreme Court to who wins elections.

From the first Supreme Court nomination in 1789 until 1825, the average confirmation time from nomination to Senate vote took just over two days. From 1826 to 1950, the next 68 confirmations averaged 14 days.

But this changed dramatically over the next half-century. From 1951 through 1976, the average confirmation process increased to more than 50 days, and from 1976 to the present, it has averaged at least 75 days.....

Because the left values baby-killing above all else. Take that away and they have nothing left.

The Founders'/Framers' Constitution strictly limits power in government.

The "'living constitution scheme' of Progressives" would expand government power and limit individual rights of citizens.

Understanding those two different views of the 1787 Constitution of the United States of America informs us on the battle of ideas in America today.

The left recognizes that he is both very intelligent and has the potential to be influential. Now if he is confirmed they have deeply weakened his potential to influence any of the liberals now on or who may come to SCOTUS.

I never believed her. she’s a liar. i don’t think she’s brave. i think she’s she’s really filthy. i don’t think she should be admired. i think she should be arrested. I don’t think she’s a ‘hero’. I think my dad is a hero for killing Nazis in WW2, but some must’ve got away.

For the better part of 75 years the Left has used the courts to force their unpopular positions on America. A 5-4 conservative Supreme Court ends this. They weren’t going to let it go without a fight.

The moronic Martha McCallum now calling Kavanaugh’s interview details “an alibi.”

She also seems to drool over the word “virginity.” Sick!

Former top-level government officials who sold uranium to Russia, gave aid and comfort to ISIS or participated in horrific, unspeakable acts are of the mindset that they will need corrupt, bribable or blackmailable justices seated when their case is appealed to the Supreme Court. So Kavanaugh cannot be seated, from this perspective.

Who is protesting the loudest?

Exactly. The federal government and especially the Supremes, given that they have the last say on what is “legal” have way too much power, and thus every time there is a change it becomes a huge bone of contention.

That ultimate power should be returned to
a super majority of the people.

Because the Left is dedicated to government expansion into all aspects of American life with the ultimate goal of socialism, and the Supreme Court is the last best way of stopping them.

What the heck is wrong with Fox News? Aside from Judge Jeannine, Sean, and maybe a few others they are as bad as the “Fake News”. Watching the alternative is unthinkable so I have to go to Freerepublic to get the semblance of truth!

Roe IS NOT going to be overturned, BUT a Court with Kavanaugh will be able to allow states to set more restrictions and increased regulations that will severely limit the number of abortions in those states.

The desperation of the Dems comes from, in my opinion, immigration cases such as Alabama v. US Dept of Commerse which could cost deep blue states 20 Congressional seats - California alone could lose 5 seats.

Why?
The political left believe in the acquisition and retention of power is to be their priority and to that end anything is permissible - nothing is off limits.

Many otherwise normal people have still to understand this!
