Sen. Chuck Grassley asks FBI to probe false allegation against Kavanaugh
The Washington Times ^ | Saturday, September 29, 2018 | Stephen Dinan

The Senate Judiciary Committee asked the FBI Saturday to investigate a man who made an unfounded rape claim against Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh and then later recanted, saying the man had acted in bad faith.

Chairman Charles E. Grassley said the committee had to waste resources tracking down the claim by the man, who said Judge Kavanaugh raped one of his friends back in the 1980s. The man said he and another friend went to beat Judge Kavanaugh up — then said he recognized him recently when television showed Judge Kavanaugh after he was nominated to the high court.

Mr. Grassley didn’t name the man, but after reporters tracked him down he recanted.

“Such acts are not only unfair; they are potentially illegal. It is illegal to make materially false, fictitious or fraudulent statements to congressional investigators. It is illegal to obstruct committee investigations,” Mr. Grassley wrote in a letter to Attorney General Jeff Sessions and FBI Director Christopher A. Wray.

The move to demand an FBI probe could deter others from coming forward with false allegations over the upcoming days, while Judge Kavanaugh’s nomination remains in limbo.

The FBI is currently investigating other allegations against Judge Kavanaugh, including a sexual assault claim made by Christine Blasey Ford, who in powerful testimony told senators on Thursday of being groped by Judge Kavanaugh at a high school party in 1982. She said she most remembered him and his friend, Mark Judge, laughing at her as they assaulted her.

I propose a new word within our national lexicon:

Fordicate (verb): To use sexual innuendo based on unprovable allegations, to destroy an opponent for political reasons.

“Stormy Daniels fordicated Trump.”

“Annita Hill fordicated Clarence Thomas.”

“James Carville fordicated Paula Jones.” (Credit to Palmer)

RR may be cooperating in light of POTUS’s holdback of the declass.

RR is known to be engaged with the Senate Judiciary Committee.

I still think RR is to be let go, steps down soon. Perhaps this is part of a plea deal he was offered as turning over the unredacted FISA documents that he was holding back amounted to self-incrimination.

If I were to speculate, I would say RR agrees to have Wray (who reports to him) investigate the assault on Kavanaugh, then steps down with immunity or limited jail time as POTUS declassifies and moves to decapitate the leadership of the Democrat Party.

All roads lead to Hillary and Obama, and beyond these two.

I have no faith that the FBI is really looking into any of this. Since being introduced to members of the CIA and FBI who are proudly, and diabolically partisan, I don’t presume our GOP related complaints will be properly investigated at all. I rather picture a ‘short straw’ selection of the ‘loser’ Agent who is then forced to give us the semblance of equal protection under the law.

Just leave Sessions out of it.

Excellent move. Great optics to establish that Kavanaugh has been falsely accused. “True in one case, true in others”.

Grassley had concluded the hearings. He was under no obligation at all to reopen them. Feinstein had her information for weeks before the conclusion of the hearings. Grassley is a wimp. The hearings were over. Everyone knows the rules. Feinstein failed to bring this up when she had a chance.

Grassley was under no obligation to give the enemy a "do over". But that is what he did; he gave them a "do over" and here we are today thanks to Grassley and his bumbling handling of all this. He drew lines in the sand. Then another. Then another. Then …

The Democrats’ incessant demand for another FBI investigation could just be another tactic to delay the vote on confirmation...or it could be that they know that the fix is in inside the FBI. Maybe they have arranged that a Comey/McCabe loyalist will be in charge of finding something to use against Kavanaugh.

Grassley’s problem was Murkowski, Collins, Flake and Corker. Now it is Murkowski, Collins and Flake. He needs to get to 50 votes of Republican Senators before any Democrats will vote to confirm.

Now that we have seen what the top level people in the FBI look like and act like, I have little confidence.

AMEN. Grassley allowed this to happen in the first place. Then Friday they were to vote at 9:30. There should have been no debate or democrat discussion. But Grassley had to show off some more and here we are.
