Commentary: Kavanaugh's confirmation process is not supposed to work this way
CBS News ^ | October 1, 2018 | Michael Graham, The Boston Herald

Posted on 10/01/2018 4:10:37 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

To quote the lady in the TV insurance ad: "That's not how any of this works."

We don't send the FBI to "investigate" alleged sexual assaults from 36 years ago. We don't do CSI: Senate Judiciary Committee. And we don't stand in the way of Supreme Court justice nominees based on activists ambushing senators in elevators.

There were many powerful and moving moments this past week in the Kavanaugh confirmation story. It was impossible to watch Dr. Christine Ford recount her memories of a sexual assault and not feel for her. The same for the righteous anger of Judge Kavanaugh, a man who believes he's the victim of a great injustice.

But there was another moment that scared some on the Right even more: The scene of a U.S. senator trapped in an elevator by anti-Kavanaugh activists, bullied by the power of their passion into changing the policy for picking a judge.

"Don't look away from me," activist Maria Gallagher screamed at Sen. Jeff Flake of Arizona. "That's what you're telling all women in America, that they don't matter. They should just keep it to themselves because if they have told the truth you're just going to help that man to power anyway."

No.

Voting to confirm Judge Kavanaugh isn't "telling women they don't matter," any more than voting against him is telling men that if they're ever accused without evidence of a sexual assault, they deserve to have their lives destroyed. Feelings aren't evidence.

If Flake really wanted an FBI investigation, he was always free to push for one....

I want these harpies to stop claiming they speak for “women in America.”

They don’t. My usually mild, ladylike persona is about to crack to the point that the next harpie who screams in a compatriot’s face is going to get my fist in her nose.

*back to composed demeanor.

FBi investigation won’t tell us anything we don’t already know.

They’ll hand to the Senate the 302s when they’ve wrapped it up and the Senate will have to draw its own conclusions.

And we’ve wasted a few more days because Flake couldn’t face down the Left’s temper tantrum.

Even CBS realizes it’s 100% BS. They must be doing their own investigative sleuthing and stumbled across completely discrediting information on Dr. Fraud.

In these troubled times, the best defense is now the LGBTQ one: Brett should have stated he was ‘GAAAAAy’ with the boys at Georgetown. But later, as a gender fluid evolving Cisgender male he grew into his heterosexuality much later in college. LOL

Case closed. Period. How could they combat that one?

They obviously can’t. Being in the treasured class of LGBTQ... trumps all other issues and makes him their hero.

Opportunity missed. He should have hired me, BGS, to advise him.

I suspect CBS has seen the poll data and it doesn’t look good for the Press and Democrats. Hence this rational article.

“If Flake really wanted an FBI investigation, he was always free to push for one”

They all were, but as we know it’s really not about that. Now that ANOTHER investigation is under way and the dems bluff was called, they are already doubting it’ll be enough....I know, what a shocker right? Next it’ll be the scope wasn’t broad enough bla bla bla.

Au contraire, speak for yourself. There was not one iota of a syllable in her testimony that I found credible. She was lying hand over fist which is why she was trying to hide and looked like she was going to shrivel up at any second. I will give her this though: It takes a lot of guts to BS an entire nation on TV. They trained her well in those 10 days.

Flake is farce. Screaming broad was just a sideshow gimmick. Flake had already decided to force another FBI investigation.

Flake is total scum.

Flake was apparently the mastermind of the delay, per other reporting.

I didn’t dare feel for her.

I’d never make it to the Supreme Court if there were any sort of feelings, mental or physical, for her

. . . over a charge which, if true, was a misdemeanor so “important” that the Statute of Limitations expired on it 35 years ago - which is twice the age the accused was at the time of the now-alleged incident.

As to the workings of the Court, which start today, it is quite likely that a plaintiff and defendant will not get justice this term - if ever - because SCOTUS will hear a case and will likely split 4-4, a no-decision decision.

Does Kavanaugh actually have anything to do right now??? Maybe he could just get a ticket to the SCOTUS hearing(s) today - and listen in the audience, then participate in the ruling?

That would be as legit as anything else about this abusive operation in the senate.

Getting accosted in an elevator is a fight trigger for a healthy male. These females might not want to make a habit of that.
