McConnell: Senate will hold Kavanaugh vote 'this week'
The Hill ^ | OCTOBER 1, 2018 | Jordain Carney

Posted on 10/01/2018 9:06:28 PM PDT by familyop

"The time for endless delay and obstruction has come to a close. Judge Kavanaugh's nomination is out of committee. We're considering it here on the floor and ... we'll be voting this week," McConnell said.

McConnell's comments, made during a Senate floor speech, comes as the FBI has to wrap up its investigation into multiple sexual misconduct allegations against Kavanaugh by Friday.

GOP senators and aides have been careful not to pin down a specific timeline on Kavanaugh's nomination, arguing that the FBI could wrap up its work before the Friday deadline.

Good.

Let Flake and the Bobsey Twins go on the record, and stop allowing a man's reputation be dragged through the gutter just because they're gutless.

‘K’ will be confirmed, the women will vote for him and Pence will break the tie.

It will be interesting to see how Manchin votes.

He's the type of pusillanimous loser who's probably going to wait to see how the other feckless cowards in the R Caucus vote before deciding which way to go.

Decency and pride in one’s country requires the vote before week’s end. Every Republican who votes no will lose their job next election. This country saw the car going over the cliff. That’s where we are as a nation. Soros and his fellow travelers will never give up. They were almost successful and are one or two elections away from totalitarian control. We are dangling now.

He is not being confirmed and that is not good news for the left. If he goes down under these circumstances the left will get destroyed this election cycle.

If I were Mitch, I would have a Plan B. I would start looking for a way to recess the Senate and allow Trump to recess appoint.

I believe he says this with the tacit approval of Flake, Murkowski and Collins.

If Mitch didn’t have the votes, he would have asked Trump to pull the nomination.

Kavanaugh could still go down but that depends on developments unforeseen af present.

Any OTHER president would pull the nomination. Trump could, as Lindsey Graham says, just renominate him and campaign against senators who voted against Kavanaugh. Trump does not behave like a traditional president.

MITCH HAS THE VOTES FREEPERS! DO YOU SEE THE SENATE RACE POLLS? RED STATE DEMS ARE GETTING SLAUGHTERED. 3-5 DEMS ARE GOING TO CROSS OVER. COLLINS/MURKOWSKI WILL BE STRIPPED OF THEIR COMMITTEE CHAIRS. FLAKE IS IRRELEVANT. STOP WORRYING

Flake is completely irrelevant in the equation. He’s no longer needed. That is why Mitch is holding the vote this week, and last week he confidently said K will get confirmed. When it comes to judges, the Turtle isn’t F around.

That’s my vote—stand with Kavanaugh and if the Senate does not confirm him, resubmit him. Shut the government down if necessary.

This is a win-win for the Republicans. If they vote, and he is confirmed, we win. If they vote, and Kavanaugh is not confirmed, we win even more bigly. The red-state Democrats fighting for their seats who voted against him will suffer. According to the most recent polls, they may lose their seats over this, putting more Republicans in the Senate for the next session where Kavanaugh can be re-nominated.
