As malignant as were the campaigns against Supreme Court nominees Robert Bork and Clarence Thomas, even they didn’t face accusations as vile and unrelenting as the unsubstantiated charges against Brett Kavanaugh. Adding to the injustice is that the frenzy surrounding his nomination isn’t really about him.
It’s about Roe v. Wade. The 1973 Supreme Court decision upended the laws of all 50 states on behalf of a constitutional right to abortion the Constitution somehow neglects to mention. Since then, the advocates of a living Constitution posit that while our Founding document is infinitely malleable, this one ruling is fixed and sacred.
Judge Kavanaugh’s great misfortune is to have been nominated at a moment when the party in opposition frets this fixed and sacred ruling could be overturned.
Never mind that Chief Justice John Roberts is unlikely to acquiesce to a move that would bring down the furies on his court. Or that it’s not clear Judge Kavanaugh would be any different, having assured senators that he regards Roe as “settled” and “an important precedent” whose central holding had been reaffirmed in Planned Parenthood v. Casey (1992). Or that overturning Roe still wouldn’t make abortion illegal.
The problem is that even Roe’s most ardent champions know it is devoid of legal and constitutional substance. So they know it is vulnerable to a closer look by any serious jurist, including those who are themselves pro-choice. No wonder Sen. Dianne Feinstein tweeted, “It’s not enough for Brett Kavanaugh to say that Roe v. Wade is ‘settled law.’ ”
Let me translate: Nothing personal, judge. But if you won’t declare that a decision laid down by seven unelected men in robes is untouchable, we have no choice but to do whatever it takes to keep you off the high court.

It’s all about getting Pres. Donald J Trump.
Imagine if slavery were still around today and senators asking if it should be considered “settled” law.
Demoncrats are for baby killing because it’s part of their sacrifice to Satan. Look up the Satanists who say they’ve gone to abortion clinics to perform rituals. Sickening.
This is creating major backlash and Dems will be punished next mo th. They meant it for evil; God meant it for good.
Not only has this exposed the Dems as leftist nutcases, it’s proven the Russian allegations were all part of a larger smear campaign.
This is a big win for our side. Even if the investigation goes another week or two it just helps Republicans. Gives the FBI more of a chance to catch the liars and leakers.
Look for the big pivot once the FBI is done. MSM will go from attacking anyone who questions the FBI as Anti-American to attacking the FBI as biased.

Cavanaugh already stated he would follow Supreme Court precedents in regards to abortion.
Demoncrats must destroy Kavanaugh in order to keep killing babies.

I have read arguments that this is really about the second amendment. RvW is simply the facade they project, because it is the most emotional issue.
I’m inclined to agree - the long game plan for dems is confiscation of firearms, so they can rule with impunity.
Well, I think the primary “problem” with Trump is that he really is pro-life and he chooses judges that are pro-life.
The Left wants to get Trump for that reason. Trump is a Nazi? Trump is racist? Trump is a homophobe? Trump hates women? Trump is Putin’s puppet? None of these silly accusations makes sense. But they are all cover for the Left to “get” Trump before he gets Roe overturned.
Kavanaugh, of course, is a concrete example of Trump’s “dangerous” pro-life views. So they very much need to “get” Kavanaugh. But the root of the “problem” is Trump.
I think everything we’ve seen since 2016 is really about Abortion. It seems to be the only thing the Left really cares about.
If I were to expand beyond abortion, I would also say that Trump and Kavanaugh support the Second Amendment, and gun control is probably the Number Two issue for the Left. This provides another reason to constantly attack Trump and (of course) Kavanaugh.
Spot on! Roe v Wade is one of the three most damaging decisions in U.S. history. The other two are Dredd Scott, and pervert marriage.
It is as much about the Second Amendment and affirmative action as Roe v. Wade.
Even “gay marraige” which changes the definition of marraige and the meaning of words, is likeley to be reversed.
Its all about protecting Democrats right to abort themselves.
When liberals are no longer around, history will ponder why keeping Roe on the books was such a literal life and death matter to them.
Regardless of Kavanaugh’s fate, fhey’re gonna experience a Pyrrhic victory.

I think it’s more about getting their resistance groups lined up and thoroughly brainwashed, and techniques polished in order to take down our republic.
Roe is important because of 500 million political money from PP, Naral and their allies.
Once upon a time a person had to maintain at list a thin veil of decency to be tolerated in society at all. Oh, for the good old days.
There is a lot tied up in this. Keep a GOP off the SCOTUS is just ONE angle. Being able to destroy ANY man with an accusation is also a goal. They have a lot of goals here. Watch “The Red Pill”, you will not be sorry you did.
