McConnell vows Kavanaugh vote ‘here on this floor, this week’ ( "doubled down Tuesday")
Washington Post ^ | October 2, 2018

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) doubled down Tuesday on his vow to hold a vote by the end of the week on the Supreme Court nomination of Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh, saying he was the victim of open “floodgates of mud and muck.”

“One thing we know for sure: The Senate will vote on Judge Kavanaugh here on this floor, this week,” McConnell said during a floor speech in which he also dismissed some recent media reports about Kavanaugh’s decades-old behavior.

His comments come as Democrats are pressing for a more expansive FBI investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct by Kavanaugh. On Monday, Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee called for FBI interviews of about two dozen people who might have information relevant to three Kavanaugh accusers.

McConnell characterized that as a part of an ongoing effort by Democrats to “move the goal posts” on Kavanaugh’s confirmation and predicted they would be unsatisfied when the FBI completes its work this week.

Democrats, McConnell said, “will not be satisfied unless they have brought down Judge Kavanaugh’s nomination.”

Yertle is gonna say to Flakey, Tom Collins, and MurCowSki, put up or shut up.

BTW, if he is not confirmed, Judge K can be renominated immediately after the election (assuming we gain 4-5 more seats) and WILL be confirmed.

I feel good every time Sen McConnell speaks lately. When he says it, you know it will stick. He may not care a lick about Trump, but he will not let his legacy go down in flames. I don’t know if the majority party ever lost a vote for SCOTUS, but he sure doesn’t want to be the first. And he won’t hold a vote if he doesn’t have the votes. I get the feeling we’ll all be feeling good this weekend...

Let imagine they block this until after the election.

The Dems had a chance because GOP voters were fat, dumb and happy while Dem voters were pissed off and energized. However even fevered never Trumpers want Judge K confirmed.

So you want to piss off an put GOP voters in hyper drive for election day Dems, just delay Judge K some more.

There is no WIN here for the Dems. Either Judge K is confirmed, or they get their clocks cleaned in the Senate races in IN, TN FL, West VA, MO, ND and Montana. At which point either Trump re-nomiates Judge K or he sends an even stronger pick to a new GOP dominated Senate in Jan 2019

Remember Corker and Flake, the 2 reliable GOP weak link Democrat stooges are GONE in Jan 2019. The only reason they ahve any power is the vote in the Senate is so evenly divided now.

So pissed at how things are going? Vote for every R candidate out there to send the Dems the message this gutter scum poltical tacit they have tried out since 2016 will be punished by Voters every time they try them

The senate hearings should be a lesson to all Americans. This is why we want a Supreme Court Judge that honors The Constitution in his or her rulings. To prevent monsters like the dems during the hearings who use the rule of law when it suits them, and then discard it when it suits them. Verily I say, they are the stuff that future Stalins and Maos are made of!

You are so correct that I’m convinced senior Dems who still have functioning brains are now seeking an exit strategy.

Why would Kavanaugh agree to be used as an election tool?
Give him an up or down vote.
If he is not confirmed, let the GOP suffer the whirlwind.
that will Cometh.

He should just say that Kavanaugh has “evolved” since then, that’s what the RATS do when old sh*t gets dug up for political reasons... /s

He won’t hold a vote if he doesn’t have the votes.

*********************************

I’m not sure about that this time. Trump wants to force a vote. He wants the red state Dems on record. They have no intention of letting them off the hook by withdrawing him.

If he isn't confirmed why are you blaming the GOP!

It is the Democrats who need to be defeated!
