Neighbors React To Arrests Made In Phil Trenary's Death (Memphis TN Chamber President)

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) - Three people are in jail, charged in the murder of Greater Memphis Chamber President, Phil Trenary.

Memphis Police arrested 18-year-old Quandarius Richardson, 22-year-old McKinney Wright Jr. And 16-year-old Racanisha Wright.

Neighbors tell Local 24 that Treanary's death was shocking. However, they are not letting that horrific shooting run them out of their neighborhood. They say their safety is their number one concern, so these arrests do bring peace, but they say it's a situation where no one wins.

"Of course, we were concerned is this a targeted killing or was this random violence," said Fontaine Pearson, who lives downtown. "Today, we still have the same street traffic. Everybody's out, everybody's doing things so we're not going to be intimidated even though it's very frightening."

Things were calm on South Front Street Sunday, which is a stark difference from Thursday night.

According to an affidavit, police say Richardson told investigators, McKinney Wright Jr. and Racanisha Wright assisted him in a robbery that led to Trenary's murder.

"To hear that young people, as young as 16 and 18 caught up in something so horrific, it makes you wonder, what happened to them," Cheryle Jackson, who lives feet away from where Trenary was shot, said. "The fact that they were apprehended doesn't really solve the problem as to why they did it in the first place."

Memphis Police say all three suspects confessed to the crimes and Richardson told investigators the three were riding around downtown Memphis looking for people to rob.

He also serves as a Director of EnVectra-Hazardous Waste Management Co. and Bancorp South. He served as Director of Pinnacle Airlines Corp. from March 10, 2004 to March 24, 2011. He received Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Engineering Technology from Oklahoma State University.

They were just riding around in a car, looking for an open library, when all of a sudden their arms started to jerk, and their legs started to jive, and their eyes started to search around for someone to rob.

Racanisha said to Quandarius "you feel that?" and Quandarius replied "oh no, I do feel it, and I don't like it!"

Then McKinney Wright started to say, "oh lawd, I think I'm getting caught up in something!!, and with that, all three of them started to moan and cry. Quadarius started to yell out "oh no, there's a white guy over there, I'm skeered something horrific is about to happen!", after which McKinney and Racanisha started to beg for whatever was catchin' them up would let go, please.
