The state of New Jersey has a new regulation in its Department of Education: a provision that prevents schools from informing parents of their child's preferred gender and gender pronouns. New Jersey became the eleventh state to have a specific gender provision in its state regulations, per NorthJersey.com. The local newspaper claimed that the rules are "intended to promote a safe and successful learning environment for [children]."
The regulation, which was signed into law by former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, says that gender identity decisions reside with the student, not the parents, despite the fact that students are children and not adults in the eyes of the law. Typically, the legal and education systems lean heavily on parental notice and authority in issues surrounding children.
The guidance includes the following rules:
~School staff must use a student's preferred name and gender pronoun in all communications, verbal, written and in e-mails,
~Students can participate in athletics according to whichever gender they ascribe to,
~A student's gender identity does not require paperwork, such as a legal name change, diagnosis or treatment,
~Students can freely access restrooms, locker rooms and changing facilities according to their gender identity
~The student's birth name must be kept confidential by the school
As NorthJersey reported, the New Jersey Education Commissioner, Lamont Repollet, said school officials should have an "open yet confidential discussion" with the student about privacy issues and their preferred name, because "[i]t's the obligation of all educators to provide a safe and welcoming school environment so all students throughout the state can achieve their full potential."
Actually, it’s pretty much the first thing parents ever find out about their kid, usually within 5-10 seconds of birth.
But when you’re liberal, you’re just kind of stupid.
I guess transgenderism is another.
Please add more to the list if you can think of any.
Well, I guess the parents will know when little Jimmy starts playing on the girls’ tennis and gymnastics teams ...
“....Abortion is one of the sacraments of the Left.
I guess transgenderism is another....”
The chronic insanity brought on by liberalism absolutely knows no bounds and destroys everything in their path. They are the BORG of this century. They belong in an asylum, not in government.
Global warming and gun grabbing.
So very wrong.
He gave it in connection with his reporting on an NPR story that aired last night, about himself.
His use of the term "normals" was calculated to drive the left completely crazy, and was (I thought) like kicking a great big wasp nest.
Seems reasonable. The government of New Jersey believes in ‘gender fluidity’ and ‘gender privacy’, and since they fund their public schools, it’s difficult to argue against them doing such. Parents who don’t approve (likely very few in NJ) can simply remove their kids from those schools, or better yet, remove their kids and push for private school vouchers.
But they won’t.
Intentional. The idea is to destroy the bond between parent and child, and replace it with the state. Meanwhile, the parent keeps the financial obligations.
chris christie is a big windbag. I’m glad he was not even remotely electable as president.
It takes a village to groom and molest your child
Scotty, beam me up. There are no signs of intelligent life here.
State governing your children.
Hey, I know how to tell the kid’s gender...if it throws ice, it is a boy. If it confuses gang rape with a gang bang, it is a girl.
An article of faith Republicans are racist, sexist, homophobes
But the schools are “free.”
this goes one everywhere, not just nj
Yet without freedom.
“Freedom” and “free stuff” are sort of opposites.
Provided, however, that the boys playing girl get a chopitoffame and the girls playing boy get an addadicktome!
