Vanity: 1994 Study Finds 41% of Rape Claims False Over 3 yr period in Midwestern Town
Eugene Kanin, Ph.D.; Archives of Sexual Behavior February 1994 ^

Posted on 10/05/2018 12:26:23 AM PDT by TigerClaws

The document is at link. 1994 study where city and college rape reports were examined. Overall, 41% were proven to be false. The college campus reports were 50% false.

"Quite unexpectedly then, we find that these university women, when filing a rape complaint, were as likely to file a false as valid charge."

Keep in mind, under Obama's "Dear Colleague" Letter, the new standard on campus for 'proving' rape is the lower "more probable than not."

This mentions the factors indicating a false rape report which I'd posted in a previous 'vanity': the Air Force Study by Charles P. McDowell.

As someone that used to investigate those crimes, I’m willing to bet that the percentage is higher than that.

Police across the country keep stats on false rape reports. In general they find between 40-45%, so this report number falls within those stats.

When you bring this Charles McDowell project, there are several interesting pieces to it. First, he worked this as a internal type project which was not supposed to be public information. AF OSI intended to utilize the information to prepare their agents for the process of a rape investigation. The study came out around 2014 because of a FOIA request to OSI.

What McDowell looked at...was rapes reported within the Air Force for the period of 1980-1984 (a period that I was in the AF as well). He collected the records to 1,218 reported rapes on AF locations (in the US and overseas). In the end, he concluded that 460 cases were legit...546 are unresolved (meaning you could conclude nothing), and 212 were false accusations (meaning that the story was made up, or that evidence simply didn’t support the accusation).

If you go out and talk to people from this period and knew of associates in trouble like this....alcohol tended to always be part of the story.

These false filers need to be doing 5-10 years. It’s simple vindictive behavior that can ruin someone’s life.

Yes. I posted the McDowell factors in the previous vanity. See below.

Notice how many seem to be in play in the Kavanaugh accusations:

Factors:

Physical injuries of false accusers usually are limited to superficial cuts, scratches, and abrasions. Scratches often appear in a hatching or crosshatching pattern, due to repeated attempts to make the scratches visible. Scratches that resemble letters or words sometimes are found on false accusers, typically on their abdomens, but are not found on actual victims.

False accusers frequently claim that they offered vigorous and continuing physical resistance but suffered no serious reprisals. Most actual rape victims do not offer vigorous resistance, and those who do often suffer extremely brutal reprisals

A false accusation typically solves some perceived problem for the victim. It may explain a pregnancy or venereal disease, or it may exact revenge. In contrast, actual rapes seldom appear to solve a problem. They usually create serious problems.

False accusers usually do not make their allegations initially to authorities. Typically they make them to friends or relatives who in turn inform the authorities.

False victims, more often than actual ones, claim to have been raped by strangers.

False accusers, much more often that actual ones, claim to have been attacked by multiple assailants who fit an unsavory stereotype.

False accusers typically claim to have been victims of simple penile insertions, or blitz rapes, without collateral sexual activity.

False accusers tend to be vague on the details, but when a false victim does provide details she tends to do so with a relish that actual victims seldom have.

False accusers, far more frequently than actual victims, cannot say exactly where the rape occurred.

In false accusation cases, far more frequently than in actual cases, the purported crime scene and the physical evidence are found to be inconsistent with the allegation

False accusers, more often than actual victims, claim to have received phone calls from their rapists before or after the crime.

False accusers, more often than actual victims, have personal problems, including difficulty in interpersonal relationships and a history of lying and exaggeration.

CONCLUSIONS

False allegations of rape are frequently not recognized as such by investigators and are almost totally neglected in the professional literature. The reason for this seems obvious, these are acts which are designed to appear plausible. The key to understanding false allegations lies in determining how the false allegation “helps” the claimant manipulate, control or recoup. Therefore, it is the context in which the allegation occurs that provides the framework for understanding the dynamics of the case. It is also important to remember that many of the defense mechanisms used in false allegations may also be found in genuine rapes. A final word of caution: even those who are emotionally prone to make a false allegation can be raped. Basic principles of police professionalism require that officers who investigate rapes remain objective and compassionate, otherwise the veracity of an allegation may never be known.

Rarely are women prosecuted for making false allegations.

Women also are sentenced less than half of what men are sentenced for the committing the same crime.

You can google a number of false rape convictions - some of which led to decades in prison - which were later overturned.

41% false.

Keep that in mind as the various “survivors” accost politicians and do TV interviews.

They need to do double what a convicted rapist would get. Destroying a man’s reputation and falsely putting them in prison is something no one can really come back from.

40-45% are false.

And yet Title IX — threatening of cutting off ALL federal funds — was used to bully colleges into using a lesser standard of proof.

Granted, college kids aren’t going to jail for being kicked out of school. They just have their good names, careers and livelihoods destroyed.

I understand that, but as someone that used to take those reports and talk to ‘victims’, I’m of the opinion that the number is actually higher.

As a friend of mine, who also conducts these investigations once told me, once told of the term, Regrettable Sex. It was a term the folks, in the agency my friend worked for, used to describe reports. You’d probably be amazed at how easily some can come up with all sorts of stuff to try to explain their dalliances to their boyfriends or husbands.

Last week I looked up all the fake rape claims over the past 2 years that were in the news to post on that idiot Chelsea Handlers twitter because she was pushing this “Guilt by mere accusation” crap. I stopped at TWENTY separate cases I found and I posted them all on her Twitter which she or twitter promptly deleted.

Women make fake claims ALL the time and I bet a hell of a lot of them were encouraged to do so by the left. Right now without question, we have innocent men in prison who were falsley accused and I would not be surprised if it’s a hell of a lot.

...”These false filers need to be doing 5-10 years. It’s simple vindictive behavior that can ruin someone’s life.”...

Severe punishment needs to follow such false claims and I hope that the authorities will dig deep into the no corroboration, no evidence, highly suspicious appearing hit job against Judge Kavanaugh. This must not go unpunished in America because such false charges will cause severe corrosion to our justice system, way of life and freedom. The outstanding individuals among us work years to build up faith, good will, expertise, loyalty, wisdom, trust, dependability, community integrity, love of family, inspiration to others, etc., etc. Unfortunately, the envious, the lustful, often hate people like that and love any opportunity to take them down or steal their rewards. This is what we have seen since DJT won the elections. The envy and malice coming from the leftist media 24/7, the unending investigations, the big tech censorship of conservatism from social media sites, etc., etc., all go back to the gang which wants to loot the winners to get something for nothing. Did Hillary travel about before the election to convince voters to support her? NO, she thought she was entitled to the Presidency. The American Presidency does not abide entitlement, so she lost to Trump, who was on the road talking to people and winning their support day in and day out and every moment since then, every effort has been made by the left, including intimidation and violence against him and his supporters to take him and them down. The same playbook has been used against Judge Kavanaugh. This is bad stuff. If there is a redeeming factor in the suffering of the Kavanaugh's, it is the pulling back of the curtain on the Deep State so that it's cruelties and lies are exposed to the light as never before. "God works in mysterious ways, His wonders to perform." I believe people who have not paid attention before have been shocked into vigilance now and we MUST NOT give up that vigilance for just as termites unnoticed can eat down a house, so can unnoticed insurrection and sedition eat down a country. Unfortunately, the "termites" are here. They must be stopped before they eat down our house.
