I think a bigger issue was one of age. He was almost 66 when he ran, but he looked older and tired. If by some miracle he had run and won, it’s probably likely he’d have died earlier than November 2015 from the stress of the job (might not have even made it to the end of a first term). That’s why I said he waited 2 decades too long to run for office.

Contrast that with Trump, who was 4 years older than Thompson was when he ran, and his energy and stamina is off the charts for someone who is now 72 (and under constant attack).
