Illinois Democratic governor candidate J.B. Pritzker said Tuesday he will repay more than $330,000 in property tax breaks he received on a Chicago mansion after a county investigator accused him of a "scheme to defraud" taxpayers by taking toilets out to lower its value.

Key to Blanchard's findings was an October 2015 email in which contractors contended that Pritzker's wife, M.K. Pritzker, wanted to declare the mansion uninhabitable and directed that toilets be removed before a property tax reassessment.
The Chicago Tribune said that the report indicates that M.K. Pritzker's brother and her personal assistant made "false representations" in sworn affidavits to the assessor about the home's condition and the timing of the toilet removal.
The newspaper said that an assessor then lowered the mansion's property tax value from $6.3 million to about $1.1 million.

Pritzker is a wealthy trust fund baby. Almost all of his wealth is inherited. He really misplayed this episode which speaks to his arrogance and greed. The sum of money that was saved was pennies on the dollar to a person with such enormous wealth. The story has been in circulation for months and he could have settled sooner. Now, he is the subject of an investigative report that has been referred to prosecutors. Not much can be expected by the partisan state’s attorney, but if the Feds follow up, Pritzker could be flushed.
Maybe his opponent needs to make an attack ad with a Pritzker look alike dressed up like the “Tidy Bowl Man.”
Ok, so we’ll all flush the toilets, along with Rauner’s failed Turn Around Agenda and swear in JB ‘Candy Man’ Prickster as the Ill-Annoy Guber. There is no stopping this trainwreck. Since Rauner allowed state-paid abortion with no restrictions and declared Ill-Annoy as a sanctuary state, I am not sure how much further to the left we can get. Next up: infanticide, voter registration for non-Americans, and gun confiscation....higher taxes is a given. Long live King Madigan.

Clinton to campaign for Pritzker in Illinois

CHICAGO — Hillary Clinton plans to campaign with Democratic gubernatorial nominee J.B. Pritzker on Monday, offering a lift to a longtime political ally days after early voting began in Illinois, a state Clinton won by 16 points in 2016.
Clinton, a Chicago-area native, is to join Pritzker in hosting a late-afternoon roundtable with at-risk, high school-aged women, according to Pritzker’s campaign.
The visit comes as Clinton is stepping up her midterm election involvement nationally, joining the Democratic National Committee to host fundraisers in the San Francisco area and scheduling campaign stops in Florida later this month to benefit Democratic gubernatorial contender Andrew Gillum.
This isn’t the first time Clinton has helped Pritzker, a longtime friend. In the Illinois primary, Clinton recorded a robocall supporting Pritzker. Clinton gave him a shoutout during a speech in April, after he had won the primary, referring to him as “the next governor of Illinois.”
Pritzker backed Clinton when she ran in the Democratic presidential primary against Barack Obama in 2008. He served as a fundraiser and adviser to Clinton in her 2016 presidential run.
Clinton’s help comes after Obama appeared with Pritzker last month in Champaign after the former president delivered a scathing rebuke of President Donald Trump in a speech at the University of Illinois.
A recent poll shows Pritzker leading incumbent Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner by 17 points.
On Monday, Rauner will meet with U.S. Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao to tout rail infrastructure improvement projects in the city.
Clinton’s appearance won’t translate into financial help — a billionaire, Pritzker is self-funding his campaign. On Sunday, the Democrat plowed an additiional $20 million into his election efforts, for a total investment of $148 million.
That surpasses the $140 million eBay executive Meg Whitman spent in a failed bid against Jerry Brown in a 2010 California governor’s race that, at $280 million, holds the record for the costliest governor’s race in U.S. history. Collectively, Pritzker and Rauner have raised $250 million.

The other two governors to go to prison were Otto Kerner (D) and Dan Walker (D). It is worth noting that Walker was imprisoned for crimes committed while out of office and in relation to his private business activities, not government service. Kerner was serving as a Federal Judge when he was convicted when he had been governor a few years earlier.

Yes, the Illinois Governorship seems to have been a bipartisan stepping stone into the pen - Otto Kerner, Dan Walker, the guy with the hair, and George Ryan. I seem to remember a Senate candidate in Illinois, Scott who was the state AG who also went to the Big House.
He committed a crime to save what for me would be $.0756571428571 on my property taxes.
Chicago and Illinois are desperately trying to pass California as the state circling the drain the fastest.
