Trump has China quaking in its boots

With China still running a record trade surplus with the US, it seems premature — to say the least — to say that Trump has won his long-overdue trade war with China.

But it is not too early to conclude that, despite their threat of retaliatory tariffs, China’s Communist authorities know that they have lost.

The increased tariffs to date, combined with the threat of more, have already clipped the wings of China’s economic rise. Its stock market is down 21 percent year over year, industrial output is slowing and its currency is weakening.

Looking beyond the bluff and bluster emanating from Beijing, there is evidence that Party leader Xi Jinping is looking for a way to stand down.

Let’s read the Chinese tea leaves.

In early July Xi ordered state-media outlets to tone down their rhetoric. “Self-deception and boasting will not bring about true self-confidence and pride,” the official Communist Party newspaper dutifully editorialized.

This sudden modesty was a striking turnabout from five years of constant bragging — by none other than “Core Leader” Xi himself.

Almost from the moment he took power in 2012, the Chinese leader was so confident that his own country’s rise was unstoppable, and so certain that America was in terminal decline, that he openly boasted about the China-dominated world to come.

He even drew up a series of grandiose plans — China would dominate high tech by 2025, the Asia-Pacific region by 2035 and the world by 2049.

Xi may try to blame his propaganda flacks for overdoing it, but the Chinese people know who is responsible. In backing off the braggadocio, Xi is “slapping his own face,” as the Chinese say.

and the real power in China, the military, will not let Xi continue in war he cannot win for much longer. We export 5 times as much as they do, so who’s got the stronger negotiating position? They’re basically out of ammo with the last round of tarriffs, over 80%. We can continue to squeeze for months.

So Trump isn’t a member of the stupid, traitorous ex-Presidents Club comprised of Bush 1, Clinton, Bush 2, and DingleBarry, who sold out the citizens of this country to China, all in the name of campaign contributions and globalism?

I don’t believe this.

If the chinese were as fearful as the article indicates—they would be negotiating the trade deal trump has called for—with the full knowledge that if they fail to do so—they’ll lose american trade entirely and worse access to american technology.

“After all, the masses must be told who to blame for China’s recent economic difficulties.
The official Global Times has even published an article calling for US administration officials to invoke the 25th Amendment and remove Trump from office.”

So China and the Dems are aligned in wanting to impeach Trump. Sounds like the Dems would like Xi as the 101st Senator to assist them with their efforts.Look for lots of hidden Chinese money supporting Dems in the midterms

The shock is being felt throughout China. Thus, to say nothing has changed is incorrect. Second, China does nothing hastily. If you think it will respond immediately to America’s economic, political and military moves, that is a mistake. Under present conditions China is energy poor. It is in the same position the USA was thirty years ago, and that along with what has been an overweening self-confidence should now cause it to reevaluate its future. It will tread water for years to come.

You gotta a link to that analysis? Which countries are involved in that statistic?

...

I would, too, considering that Obama was president.

Trump should start with 10% tariffs on China and raise them every year another 10%. This gives companies enough time to adjust. They will contract outside of China, and even build factories outside of China.

China has lots of problems, one of which is the worlds worst pollution. Water, air, and simply trash pollution is horrible in China. Corruption is rampant as well as fraud in the private sector. Then there is racism, nationalism and classism. China has very few morals and the government attacks most religions. Its ok in China to take whatever you can get away with, at the expense of others. China needs a good spanking to clean up their act.

You can watch what China did to Japan as a way to handle them. China’s propaganda revived the “We hate the Japanese” propaganda from WW2 to stop their people from buying Japanese products. This worked somewhat. Japanese products are much higher quality than those made in China. But the Chinese government gets what they want by lying to their people. Whipping them up into a hate mob. America is going to have to live with that. But in doing so, we will give shade to Taiwan, Japan and Australia, countries who have been abused by China over the past decade. We don’t need China. China needs us.

I'm not sure that is an accurate assessment of China's military vs Xi.

Who told the the Chinese navy to get this close to the USS Decatur?

Someone in China is willing to risk a war.

Here's the photo...

That's kinda close.

I've warned people for many years that China's downfall will be the ENORMOUS cost of cleaning up all that pollution and taking care of its population suffering from the medical effects of that pollution. A cost so huge that it could bankrupt China's economy within the next 20 years.

If China plays it’s cards right, they will get a smaller percentage of a much larger pie.

So will we.

Win-win...
