I’m An Immigrant, Minority Woman Going Republican Over Democrats’ Treatment Of Kavanaugh
The Federalist ^ | October 5, 2018 | Adele Scalia

Posted on 10/06/2018 4:24:36 PM PDT by Twotone

I have become a unicorn. My metamorphosis didn’t require a magic spell or potion, or even a trip to a well-reviewed plastic surgeon to add a horn to my head. All it took was Democrats’ treatment of Brett Kavanaugh over the last few weeks to turn me into that elusive creature: a minority, immigrant woman who supports Republicans.

I moved to the United States from Trinidad and Tobago eight years ago when I married my husband, Christopher, former U.S. Supreme Court justice Antonin Scalia’s eighth (and, in my opinion, most lovable) child. Some people might read that and think, “Well, that’s no surprise then; Justice Scalia’s daughter-in-law is hardly likely to be anything but Republican!”

But they would be wrong. I’ve always considered myself politically moderate: I am unapologetically pro-life, but my views on affirmative action, Black Lives Matter, and gun control made me sympathize strongly with Democratic perspectives and occasionally led to arguments with my husband and father-in-law.

That sense of political homelessness was a big reason that I was never in a hurry to become an American citizen. I figured I’d do it eventually, but not having a strong connection to either party, feeling unsure of where I fit into America’s strange political landscape, meant it was low on my list of priorities.

They’ll still be Feelz Not Facts based in most of their politics.

I really wish they’d stay the hell out of the GOP and make their own party.

We already had a “big tent” GOP that stood for nothing and no one. We don’t need to go there again.

The strongest statement of intellectual integrity and moral strength a woman of any color can make is to repudiate leftism and all of its variants including feminism.

Repudiating Leftism shows that you don’t need the strength of a mob, and can stand on your own two feet, and think with your own brain.

Welcome Adele Scalia to being a real American.

Don’t diss them so soon. A slap across the face is a big wake up to most. It’s doubtful they’ll be fooled again.

"Christine Blasey Ford had no intention or desire to ever become a household name.""

Personally, I'm not so sure about that.

If she repudiates what was done in opposition to Kavanaugh, the other things will die and wither on the vine. It has been my opinion that leftist philosophy is like teeth in someone’s mouth.

If they all stay intact, the entire leftist ideology may remain intact, but if one tooth i lost, the ones on either side become weaker, and pretty soon, those individual teeth cannot remain intact as the ones around them the propped each other up rot and disappear.

People often need to have that process to make the transition. Think of it as a liberal being mugged.

Doesn’t work that way in reality.

That whole “mugged by reality” thing? That wasn’t about conservatives. That was about “neo-conservatives”. Leftists that can’t admit it to themselves that they are leftists.

A critter wont change its spots. It’s a whole lot less rational reasoning than people suppose. It’s bone deep and to the death.

The only thing that changes, in reality, is the letter they vote for, not what they vote for or what they want.

Locusts. Destroyed where they were and now want someplace else to settle and destroy.

Actually, I suspect it may be true that she didn’t want to become a household name.

She had people whispering in her ear, egging her on, saying he would drop out, etc, but each time Kavanaugh refused to drop out, the voices around her kept getting louder.

It’s possible.

This gal has family connections, marrying into the Scalias, that might push her harder to the right. But her other connections (minority, immigrant) make her a stronger voice to abandon the Dems. All we can do is watch & hope.

LOL, I missed that in the article...I wasn’t interested in her “background” and skipped over it! Now THAT was a mistake!

Ford certainly seems to have been satisfied with sinking BK from the shadows, but is a total ‘Rat hack that she was more than willing to come p[public in controlled circumstances.

Why are there no i’net pics of her coming or going to the hearing room?

Hanging out in Rehoboth?

Dining in DC?

I agree that there are a great number of Leftists who, even after getting “mugged”, will embrace leftism even more strongly.

But this is nothing new...in “The Gulag Archipelago” Solzhenitsyn described people who had been put there by Stalin, but who still thought he was right to put them there, and they cried when he died. Unbelievable. But true.

But there are Leftist who have left the insanity. It does happen as well.

Very true, Grimmy. Trump’s tent is filling up like his rallies do. It’s a winning hand, and let’s play it for keeps and for our conservative future.

All the GOP needs to do is make a campaign commercial with those screaming harpies today and say “Do you want these people controlling the Govt...vote Republican in November”

Yeah whenever I hear someone say “She wanted to be confidential” Bull sh*t..if she wanted to be confidential she would NEVER have written the letter to begin with, she wouldn’t have gone to the Washington Compost, and she would not have taken a bogus lie detector test in August and hired left wing loons to represent her
