That whole “bigly” meme was so stupid - all based on people with poor hearing misquoting Trump, who never said “bigly” in his life.
He says “big league”.
The President ought to immediately nominate two additional conservative judges and increase SCOTUS to 11 justices. Thats exactly what Dems have in store if (God forbid) they ever regain power.

I am aware of that. But it's become a "thing" -- the way "yankee" entered our language.
"Yankee" was originally a slur by English settlers and governors in the American colonies against the Dutch settlers of New York, who were known for cheese making. The English called them "Jan Kees" (John Cheese). The male name for John, "Jan" is pronounced "yahn" in Dutch, and "kees" is a play on the Dutch worrd "kaas" (cheese). Thus, the Dutch were "Yahn Kees." Later, New York patriots fighting against the English would take pride in the nickname.
So, those of us who use "bigly" knowing it was originally thought by the media to be an indicator of Trump's (and his supporters') stupidity, use the word ironically, to mock the media and the snob elites. And because we won. Bigly.

No, I remember when “bigly” got started - it wasn’t irony - it was a misunderstanding... people were saying it because they thought Trump was saying it - I remember the conversations. I remember pointing out that it was “big league” and getting arguments right here on FR.
Some of the memes began exactly the way you describe, such as “hugh and series”, and they are still funny to this day.
Trust me, “bigly” just isn’t very funny.

I have no need to trust any opinion of “bigly” other than my own, in that “bigly” has always struck me as funnny and witty. It takes all kinds. Some people on FR are very literal and can’t accept it as a play on sounds, and they are entitled to their opinions—it’s a free country. I and many others are simply amused by it.

It just reminds me too much of the way GWB was known for mispronouncing “nuclear” as “nuculer”, and “strategy” as “strategery”, etc. -
The difference is that Bush really DID mispronounce those words, whereas Trump would never say something as ignorant sounding as “bigly”.
But since you think it’s funny to keep this myth alive, it makes it that much easier for leftist comedians to depict Trump as an idiot.
