Calm down. The purpose of a drill is to find issues like this to fix so they don’t happen again. The fact is that the school was trying hard to accommodate this child. If you have any complaints, take it up with the parents that caused his/her mental illness.

I am picturing the conversation amongst the admin at the school. Do we put “her” in the girls locker room? Or the boys locker room? It seems that no matter what we pick we will either get in trouble by “her” parents for assuming, or by all the other parents for the potentially unsafe condition. Maybe we get less heat if we set “her” aside to figure out later.

Seems to me the school is in a no win situation.

It doesn’t say, but what if this person is very fluid, and thinks he is a boy one day, and a girl the next? Even more of a no-win situation.

Of course, the emergency plan should be to go to the locker room closest to you at the time, regardless of actual gender. Which would nullify this whole complaint.

I was thinking the same thing. Why is it necessary to separate sexes in a school shooting situation? Wouldn't it be prudent for all sexes to seek shelter together in the nearest safe place?

I'm so glad I went to school in a simpler time.
