Erdogan: Turkey will defend rights in Aegean, East Med

Turkey will defend its sovereign rights in the Aegean and the Eastern Mediterranean, the country’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Monday in Ankara’s latest warning against hydrocarbon exploration off the coast of Cyprus.

“We have a duty to protect [our rights],” Erdogan told a meeting of party officials, adding that standing up for its rights has given Turkey its existing “political, economic and social stature.”

“We have been able to achieve this not only by taking action against certain people at home but also by standing up to the world’s biggest economic and military powers,” Erdogan said.

Asked about Turkey’s recent warnings over Cyprus’s offshore drilling, European Commission spokesman Margaritis Schinas yesterday pointed to the March 22 European Council conclusion urging Ankara to “respect the sovereign rights of Cyprus to explore and exploit its natural resources in accordance with EU and international law.”

He is as correct as saddam hussein was in asserting his right to Kuwait and everything in and underneath it.

This particular rattling saber got a little rusty, but he's rattled it before. More recently he's had the Turkish air force buzz Greek Aegean islands that are inhabited, but close to the coast of Turkey.

The Greeks have plenty of reason to take such provocations seriously.

Need I say; Cyprus.

I guess we have a difference of opinion on a race of people who created more grief in the Mediterranean and Balkans than you apparently are aware of.
They have never apologized for the Armenian holocaust and are re-enacting the same crime with the Kurds.
They screwed us in the Persian Gulf War and Americans died for it.
They freely elected the Islamist lunatic wannabe Sultan who is building mosques in Europe while persecuting Christians in his homeland and shutting their churches.

We just got through Columbus Day, which is under attack. If you can't make the connection, you have a problem other than convenient memory.

I think comparing the situation with Turks to Columbus is inaccurate.
Columbus is being attacked by anti-American subversives. His actions were instrumental in the path to the development of our country.

The Turks neve created anything, never produced anything - except rape, murder, slavery, forced conversion, plunder, devastation and human misery on a massive scale in Greece, Central Europe, the Balkans, southern Europe, the Mediterranean, northern Africa and the Levant. Entire Christian islands were depopulated by Turkish slaves like Barbarossa.

Nor have their misdeeds been confined to the past. Only a hundred years ago they extirminated their Christian Armenian
subjects in a manner so brutal and savage that describing the details here would shock more people.Their misdeeds continued throughout the 20th century with ancient Greek colonies along the Aegaean and into the very present with actions again us in
the War with Saddam and with their Kurdish
co-religionists whom they would exterminate as brutally as the Armenians if they thought they could away with it.

They are Central Asian Nomad savages who never evolved.

The Turks are not going anywhere, unless you want to have one hell of a war, killing many on both sides, including no doubt a lot of America's dearest blood, and have the ultimate beneficiary be the Russians. The Turks live in Anatolia now, and have for centuries. So YES, it is the same thing.

500 years after Columbus, in a gradually evolving scenario of progress, all citizens of the US essentially enjoy the sane political, social and economic rights regardless of religion or race in the most prosperous and blessed nation that ever existed.

After 1000 years of brutality, savagery and rapaciousness we have .............Turkey.

Yeah. Equivalent.
