Give Us The Wall: House GOP Plans Full Blown Legislative Assault On Illegal Immigration
Townhall.com ^ | October 10, 2018 | Matt Vespa

Maybe there are three dividends that Republicans are reaping from their victory over liberals during the Brett Kavanaugh Supreme Court fight. The base is jacked up for the midterms, we confirmed Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, giving conservatives a SCOTUS majority for the next generation, and it allowed the House GOP leadership to get some chutzpah on fighting illegal immigration. Yes, you read that, right? We’ve demanded a wall, going after sanctuary cities, securing the border, and enforcing current federal immigration laws. Now, Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) pretty much promised full legislative offensive against illegal immigration (via CBS News):

House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy says he will introduce a bill this week to fully fund a border wall between the United States and Mexico. Building the wall is a campaign promise and rallying cry for President Trump, whose support McCarthy may be seeking as the frontrunner to be the next speaker of the House.

McCarthy is sponsoring the "Build the Wall, Enforce the Law Act," which would dedicate over $23 billion to building the border wall. The bill would also include measures to cut off funds for sanctuary cities and to facilitate deportation and detention of immigrant gang members. Breitbart, a right-wing news site, first reported that McCarthy would introduce the bill.

"For decades, America's inability to secure our borders and stop illegal immigration has encouraged millions to undertake a dangerous journey to come here in violation of our laws and created a huge loophole to the legal channels to the immigration process where America welcomes immigrants to our country," he said in a statement to Breitbart.

Congress has already given $1.6 billion to build the wall, although Mr. Trump has often said at rallies that this is insufficient funding. According to Breitbart, McCarthy is hoping to leverage his bill as an issue in the midterm elections in order to rally Trump-supporting Republican voters.

We’ll see what happens. It’s promising that the GOP is moving on this, but as always—watch out for the moderate wing to foul things up for us. We very well could fumble the football at the goal line. But at least there’s some movement on an issue, where Trump and the GOP have to deliver. We botched a full repeal of Obamacare, which still stings—but this is a wall. It’s not an expensive proposal considering what gets passed nowadays. It’s clear-cut. If we cannot get a wall built to help secure our borders, what good are you, GOP.

Don’t need a wall. Just deny any benefits. They’ll self deport. Churches and other so-called sanctuaries will tire of have to clothe, feed, care for them.

The $1.6B is fake, too little to matter except as a trial balloon. The $23B is real. I wonder if they finally grew a spine and decided to do the right thing. Or did they finally get scared that they had to deliver to keep their cushy jobs? Either way, I’ll take real border protection and enforcement. Finally!

Yep no wall needed. Just enforce the laws we have. Make the penalties for hiring an illegal alien higher than they are for cheating a smog test. No mechanic would dare falsify a smog test in California, they just will not risk it.

and we have the means to catch anyone trying to cross the border if we had the will. It would be an excellent training ground for the military, and/or just expand the ICE border security.

Right you are, SkyDancer.

If the Republicans are serious about a ‘full blown’ assault, what you propose is all that’s needed.

However, I would like to see employers pay a price for aiding and abetting.

Make the pro-illegal immigrant religious and charitable organizations criminally & civilly liable for the actions of those they sponsor. Do that & you will see that gateway close fast!

Actually, we do need a wall. It keeps gangs, drugs, terrorists, and deportees out. Walls work.

I don’t believe that the feds spend more money for anchor babies to be born here than the 1.6 billion appropriated for the wall.

“Don’t need a wall.”

Yeah we do.

So that the next time we end up with a Dubya or an Obama or some other nitwit whose allegiance is somewhere else it will be that much more difficult for them to throw the whole border open.

And once we get the Wall we need deportation, mass deportation so that California can be liberated from its current state of occupation.

Plus deny them employment. Utilize SS and IRS records to force employers to only hirer legals. Authorize road program to make border accessible.

No build the damn wall. Benefits never should occur. You can’t be a Sovereign nation without protected boarders.

They must be very worried about losing the House for them to throw this up for the base. If they had funded the wall 6 months ago they would have it made, now it’s looks desperate and I cannot say l trust it.

We need the wall, e-verify with teeth, punitive Action against employers, end anchor baby rights for all foreigners including tourists. You must be here with legal parents to be native born.

McCarthy sees Jordan as a threat to the Speaker position. We need to incentivize illegals to self deport.
