He did great financial things for the city.

But we can and have done MUCH worse in NYC.

No one ever believed he was ever a Republican.
He was a Dem before, the only reason he even became a Rep was to run for Mayor as he couldn’t get on the Dem Ballot because of the old guard running the party. So in reality, he’s just switching back. I hate to point this out, but Trump has followed the same pattern to a point, he was a Dem most of his adult life. But fortunately, Trump is proving to be pretty conservative so far.
Everyone, outside of New York anyway, always knew he was a democrat, he talked like a democrat, his policies were that of a democrat and he tried to put his hand up everyone's ass to try and control them (all for their own good, it takes a village you know)just like a democrat.
