Crewed Dragon 2 launches in April for the Space Station.

Then say goodbye to those ancient Soviet fossils.

That should be cosmonaut. We rely on the Russians to get into space.

Good thing we have the space shuttle to get to the ISS.......... Oh! Never mind. Well, what about the other human rated launch vehi.......... Oh! Well it’s only been since July of 2011 so at least we’re making progre...... Oh! Guess the study of AGW, or lack thereof, is more important.

Space Shuttle was a white elephant.

A truly reusable launcher and crew vehicle goes into service next year in the Dragon 2.

A reliable vehicle, even in an emergency. Stark reminder that the US gave up our space flight (hopefully temporarily) and that the Soviets much-derided capability still works. EVEN IN AN EMERGENCY.

I read that the Russians have suspended future Soyuz flights pending an investigation of the Soyuz program, similar to what the United States did following the Challenger explosion. What will happen to the two cosmonauts or astronauts who were scheduled to return to Earth on this Soyuz spacecraft? Will they stay up there for another year or two?

The space agencies say “one cosmonaut and one astronaut.”

I always liked “cosmonaut” — getting launched into the cosmos.

UK Daily Mail — “Russian cosmonaut Aleksey Ovchinin retained an enviable sang-froid as he realised what was happening after they were rocked violently around in their seats by the force of the booster malfunction. ‘An accident with the booster, 2 minutes, 45 seconds. That was a quick flight. We are tightening our seatbelts.’ he said in a calm voice in a streamed video of the incident.”

I don’t think that’s the language,I’d have been using!

Second stage booster failure after separation of first stage.

...

Is there anything official on that?

It appeared to me that the rocket was fishtailing and that the escape system activated before any separation.

FYI:

On that rocket, there are four liquid fueled side boosters that separate first, while the core of the first stage still operates.
