The both were friends since 1989. He tried to help her but unfortunately it was futile.

Adele??? Well, “Skyfall” IS a great tune. B4 that I listened to her “21” album - gave it to my wife actually: Voice has a buzzy, distorted quality, the sound in general is badly squashed and compressed (better on the vinyl release, however), and all the lyrics are about “love” relationships, and about as deep and mature as an annoyed kitten. Don’t get me wrong, I like plenty of relationship songs, but “21’s” wore on me very poorly. I’m not sure there is a single one that would encourage me to get in a relationship, were I looking. (I’m married and intend to stay that way.)

If Adele has done other material like Skyfall, or much of anything else that shows real wisdom or inspiration or love beyond hormones, suggest away! Meanwhile, I’ll suggest a few tunes w/ great lyrics and emotions that few FReepers likely know:

Dream On, by Russ Ballard

Confession, by Ken Hensley / Uriah Heep

Illusion, by Ken Hensley / Uriah Heep

Firefly, by Ken Hensley / Uriah Heep (ok, I’m a Hensley fan!)

Hold On, Hold Out, by Jackson Browne (better known, flat out BEAUTIFUL!)

ANY of those songs, if I listen to them intently, can still move me to tears.

Brian is a gentle, well-meaning leftist whose faculties are long compromised by parental abuse, substance abuse, and plain aging. He buys into PC propaganda.

Mike Love suffered more even than Brian when Murray, Brian’s father and Mike’s uncle, in selfish and petty vindictiveness, sold their entire Capital catalog for a mere $90,000 (as I recall). Wilson and Love - the McCartney and Lennon (respectively) of the Beach Boys - were betrayed and defrauded. Love was devastated - giving rise to years of lawsuits.

Mike Love can be an extreme and vengeful jerk, but he was long abused and provoked. He sought to prevent Van Dyke Parks and LSD from damaging his cousin and the band, to no avail.

Yes. Intellectual property is at tbe very heart of free enterprise!

The so-called conservatives who cry Free Market are actually libertines who do not respect the rule of law or the rights of others.

Failure to protect intellectual property is de facto communism.

Mike Love is the one in the cap. By this time, Brian seldom performed with the band, although not never.

That is Bruce Johnston on the left (stage right). He joined in 1966 to replace Brian on stage, after the latter went into the studio full time, and after Glen Campbell left the touring band. He first recorded vocals with them on Pet Sounds. (Campbell did too, on guitar, as he was one of the Wrecking Crew).

Johnston penned, I Write the Songs, sung by Barry Manilow. But the song is really about Brian Wilson, genius composer. Johnston also wrote the backing vocals for Pink Floyd’s The Wall, as I recall.

Modernization... if you want paid, go work. Maybe they should try a few 60 hour work weeks like the rest of America.

It’s too bad our entire government is controlled by those who think perpetual copyright is a good idea.

“Hatch wanted the ability to cause a power surge that shorted out the motherboard. “

Just because Orin Hatch is stupid does not mean that he had the objective wrong.

Property rights are the foundation of free enterprise and freedom itself.

And, of course, we do not want the government, any government to have the ability to identify remotely which device is the culprit. That burden is is the wronged party.

I’ve said in the past that if she never got shacked up with bobby brown, she’d still be alive today.

I think we have different musical tastes. As my father told me more than once, I’m into the music of screechy girl singers. Adele is a bit of a departure from that but I love her “I Set Fire to the Rain”.

I listened to some of your recommendations. They’re OK, but not my style and not very popular based on the view count.

Right now, for me, it is the best of opera and the 70’sand 80’s.

I guess if one doesn’t want China to steal ideas/intellectual property, then it follows they should also feel that way about other thievery.

Illegal downloads are theft, by the book.

Or "Buy the book," for copyright extend to written material, and it seems if we go "by the book" then everyone who saves a copy of a web page (apart from temporary cache) for their own personal viewing later, may be breaking the law. Even though the material copied would never be bought, or sold by the copier. But which copying can serve to make the publisher more well known.

I myself do not want to break the law, though over the years i have thousands of web pages saved for personal retrieval, but I also think that if you do not want readers to make copies of such then you should not make it public, just as if you do not want your picture taken then you should not go out in public. And if viewers can save TV programs, then why not material on the web? However, back up copies of such would be another issue, though i think these should be allowed due to the the vulnerable state of electronic data, and i have some.

Your scenario is covered by the Fair Use exceptions.

Just like if you had purchased a CD and wanted to rip a reference copy of that CD.
