But like the rest of the world with socialized medicine, it will not do away with private healthcare.

Those with the means will still be able to pay for their preferred doctor, and private hospitals will flourish.

Perfect example is the U.K. where there public NHS-run hospitals and private hospitals.

Guess where the best and the brightest practice medicine?

In Canada, people can still purchase private coverage if they want.

Having lived in two states bordering Canada and worked in healthcare all of my life, I can tell you that Canadians quite often come south for the important stuff. And pay cash for it too. By this I mean diagnostic medicine.

Some of my friends from just across the border have been told drugs they were taking had "run out" when they were plentiful here in America. Why is that?

Finally I have had Canadian friends tell me symptoms they had sought help for - for *years* in the Canadian system - and made suggestions which led to exactly the dx I strongly suspected. Hypothyridism. Celiac disease. These are not zebras.

But socialized medicine is a dream! Really it is. It's the greatest!!

A lot of the cost would be hidden as more redistribution of income. Under Obamacare, middle class premiums and deductibles skyrocketed (except for government employees, union members, and large corporate employees).

The money collected by whacking the middle class subsidized the Obamacare subsidies of those earning 180% of the poverty level or less and the Medicaid expansion for the poor. For the most part, Obamacare was a massive redistribution program with most of the cost hidden with much higher premiums and deductibles for the middle class.

With “Socialized Medicine for All” the government has much more ability to manipulate relative cost between groups and will do so ruthlessly to benefit the classes that vote for government or the large corporate entities that lobby and make campaign contributions. That pretty much leaves the middle class, again, as lunch.

The act of consuming services that are payed for with other people's money is inherently political.

And it's only right that those paying the bills (the taxpayers) have a say in what gets paid for.

It won’t be free, there will some sort of tax to pay for it. most likely a 15 to 20% payroll tax. Of course that will cut down on most people’s disposable income.
