A friend and I seriously considered pimping a business on FB. Lots of hoops to jump through and they want a LOT of $ to promote you...if they FEEL like it on any given day.
We went elsewhere.

They are not. As I pointed out, there are alternatives to Facebook available. Even MySpace is still around. Yahoo GeoCities and Angelfire before Facebook. Remember Usenet?
And Facebook at its core is just a website.

I completely agree with you on this point. FB should refund him the money, and this gentleman should use it to start-up his own business or social media site on the web.
Facebook's ubiquity makes them indecipherable from any television network, except far more powerful. No terrestrial or cable network has a reach of 2.4 BILLION people (214 million in the U.S. alone)
Hard to believe people pay that much!
