To: where's_the_Outrage?

Also, are they going to get rid of the gas tax since we are now paying tolls?

So they collected $345M and spent $205M on roads. And then refer people to someone else for specific. The rest of the costs is buried. One also has to wonder if they are collecting so much on toll roads, what exactly are they doing with all the gasoline tax money and federal dollars their getting? Why are their so many toll roads? Went down to Orlando last March and practically all their roads are tolls.

Seems fishy to me and this article didn’t explain anything.

As was the old saying back home... the government buys more sand to pour in rat holes.

"Governments have traditionally paid for roads through a gas tax, but revenues have plateaued over the past decade as cars have become increasingly fuel efficient.

Fuel prices go up because of government meddling in the oil industry.

The government then mandates the auto industry to implement CAFE standards raising the fuel economy of vehicles.

Government then complains that fuel tax revenues are down because of higher CAFE standards so they raise tolls.

Sometimes I swear these unintended consequences seem suspiciously "intended".
