The attorney for U.S. Rep. Keith Ellison has filed an appeal seeking to prevent a Hennepin County District Court from enforcing a ruling issued last week ordering the divorce records of Ellison and his ex-wife Kim be unsealed.
The petition for writ of prohibition was filed with the Minnesota Court of Appeals Monday. Ellison is the DFL candidate for state attorney general.

What amazed me most is the StarTribune (aka The Red Star) is leading the charge to unseal the divorce records. That’s so unlike them to do this.
I really hope that there’s some good stuff in there to throw at Ellison.
The Libs want him gone! Too big of a liability.
Maybe the Red Star Tribune is doing this on behalf of ‘Rats who want Ellison gone for some reason. If so, be interesting to know who and why.

What’s the point of sealing records if some judge can come along and unseal them?
I’m not a fan of this guy, but for me it’s not about him. It’s more about a certain political win for Obama back in the day where he was way behind the republican until he got divorce records unsealed, which destroyed the republican’s election efforts.
I have a bad feeling that the Strib may know that there is nothing in there to shame Ellison and THAT is why they want it unsealed.
My brother is the lead attorney in this case fighting to get these released. The red star is taking a backseat on this one but still involved. A response to the appeal is already ready to be filed.
Jack Ryan didn’t get special treatment with his divorce records.
But Keith Ellison does? Oh wait... he is a Democrat.
And muslim.
That’s how Obama won his senate seat: His allies in the press sued to have his GOP rival Pat Ryan’s divorce records unsealed, after which Ryan voluntarily withdrew from the race because of some salacious sentences in the records, and a desperate Illinois GOP trotted out the hapless Alan Keyes to replace him and run against Obama. Pat Ryan was ahead of Obama at the time, and Obama — who was an ineffective state senator at the time, well known for voting “Present” — went on to win the race, after having been given the opportunity to showcase his ability read from a teleprompter at the 2004 Democrat convention.
Pat Ryan = Jack Ryan.
All court records are presumptively open except for certain exceptions like adoptions and juvenile. You don’t get other stuff sealed unless there’s a compelling need to do so, and because they contain embarrassing stuff is not such a reason. The point is that they never should have been sealed in the first place.
I can accept that.
the muslim Obama got that done twice in his climb to power. if only fair if another muslim has it done to him.

Why should they have to unseal them?
Because the Strib sued to have them unsealed and they won.
