f you want good roads, you have to pay for them.

It’s not just the politicians in Madison and Washington, D.C., who have failed to learn that lesson.

It’s the people of Wisconsin, too.

If you want good roads, you have to stop diverting taxes meant for roads to social programs (vote buying).

The infrastructure was all fixed during Obama’s first term. $900 Billion was spent on those famous shovel-ready jobs.

Translation: Hey, you rubes, let us increase your taxes. We’ll promise (with fingers crossed) to return at least 5% of those taxes to you to improve roads. The rest will be used to house, feed, and medicate illegal aliens (future democrats, pay to drive in voters from other states, and contribute the lifestyle of politicians who’d be in poverty were it not for the one job they can have that requires folks of their “talents.

Or create walking trails, bike trails, add subsidized bus routes when the buses in use already are only about 5-10% utilized. Nearest large city just added a ton of bus routes with the “regional optional transportation tax money” they are stealing from the counties that voted no and I have never seen a bus with more than 3 people on it at any given time. Real people would consolidate the bus routes and buses, cut costs, and utilize what you have at a minimum 60% rate.

I grew up in California — we paid the highest gasoline taxes in the country but we also had the best roads.

THEN came the liberals. And they saw all that filthy lucre coming in and did political math and said “Why use that $ for roads, which don’t vote? We will redirect to colostomy bags for illegals, which will convince people who vote to vote for US and they, too, can virtue signal!

That is EXACTLY what happened and how the greatest road and highways system in the history of the Republic crumbled into decay.

Followed of course by bond issue after bond issue, all of which are raided again.

This is why big government must be halted! The basic things they are supposed to do always get held over your head like bribery so you pay them for the stuff they are not supposed to do. For the children of course. And of course those mean republicans always trying to take stuff away.

Nobody ever asks how tax money has been spent in the past. There is no accountability for what politicians and bureaucrats do.

Scratchin my head. How does a survey help ?
Hello, AP ? All roads can't be fixed at the same time.
I wish Wisc. Freepers would chime in re: Wisc. roads.

I travel to Wisc. semi-frequently and they have had major road projects going on all over the southern part of state (Oshkosh to the Illinois border) for the last 5-6 years or so. Some of their county roads need help but a lot of gravel farm roads have been turned to asphalt.

Yes, and the condition of the highways in Kentucky show that at least Mitch McConnell has been good to his constituents in that regard. He may be completely useless in other ways, but he sure brings home the bacon for road improvement.
