The POTUS can also give a SOTU message anytime he wants if calling Congress to session doesn’t pan out. He could use a SOTU occasion to put them on the spot that way, via the bully pulpit.

I’d view it more as an opportunity to get the Dems on record before the elections as supporting the invasion of the southern border.
As we might agree, this is an outright challenge to the sovereignty of the United States. Now if the Governments of Honduras or Mexico don’t take action, the United States must draw this line in the sand. The United States must use force to intern and deport these people, and prosecute those who are funding this. Secure the southern border, now, not later.
I like the intent but IMO, it is stupid to hold congress to passing a law that doubles up on existing law.

Completely agree. The only ones who would be against it are the usual left wing complainers and enablers. Would there be any conflict with the Posse Comitatus Act, anybody know?
