The history of American politics abounds with examples of leaders sunk by scandal, the dark details excavated by their enemies.

Lee J. Carter, a Virginia state lawmaker with enough proverbial skeletons to crowd a graveyard, has taken it upon himself to beat any potential rival to the punch.

In a whiplash-inducing confessional on Twitter, Carter, a Democratic delegate from Prince William County, recently told his 18,000 followers he needed to share details of his past before unidentified foes “try personal smears.”

Yep, wouldn't want his foes to "smear" him.

His confessions:

he was fired from a job

arrested for suspicion of assault

“terrible student” in high school

said “horrible things” on the Internet

things that were “homophobic, trans-phobic, sometimes sexist or racially insensitive

lowlights included layoffs

a foreclosure

a car repossession

the Confederate flag made him feel something more positive than the revulsion

I’m on divorce #3

describing himself as the victim of “abuse, including rape.”

I’m sure explicit images or video of me exists out there somewhere.

self-proclaimed socialist

child support dispute he had with his second wife

suffered an electrical shock and hurt his back in 2015. It was his inability to collect workers’ compensation that inspired him to run for office

Well it certainly qualifies him to be a Dimm but why would anyone vote for this clown - because he was transparent?

Reggie Jackson (not the baseball player) tried that in Massachusetts years ago, and put it in a book. The response was “Too much information”.

Ok, life happens and you might hope he learned from these experiences. But then there’s that socialist thing.... Proving he still has a h*LL of a lot to learn about politics and economics. Sorry, no on the job training....

If the Washington Post admits this about a fellow Democrat it must be really, really bad.

Yes, but he was purposefully vague, and also benefitted from all competitors holding back so they wouldn't appear racist.

19 Oct: Daily Caller: EXCLUSIVE: He’s Running For Governor As A Single Dad, But His Ex-Wife Says He Treated Her ‘Like A Prisoner,’ Bruised Her Neck
by Andrew Kerr
•Nevada Democratic gubernatorial candidate Steve Sisolak’s campaign image as a single father raising two successful daughters is a lie, according to his ex-wife, Dallas Garland.
•She said Sisolak treated her like “a total prisoner” throughout their 13-year marriage and that he drove a wedge between her and her children.
•Garland said she was left with a bruised neck after an altercation with Sisolak after she filed for divorce in 2000, according to pictures and a contemporaneous diary entry.
•Sisolak’s two children dispute Garland’s account in a sworn statement, saying Garland, not Sisolak, was the aggressor.
Garland also detailed an August 2000 incident that she says left a bruise on her neck and ended with Sisolak threatening to call the police. TheDCNF obtained photographs of Garland’s bruised neck taken the day after the incident and spoke with three individuals who recalled seeing her bruised neck...

Now, when you can’t do anything else right, become a politician, no problem, it only takes promises you can’t keep, wich sounds right up the alley for Mr. Lee J. Carter.

Hardly fair to criticize him for honesty about it. Lord only knows how many others have this kind of history and keep it hidden. And there are those for whom this kind of history is not at all hidden yet they seem to be immune to it anyway.

Hmmmm.

So what’s he hiding?

For some reason, this makes me suspect there is something else that he’s not telling us.

You can excuse some of that. But overall, that’s a pretty healthy list of crippling demerits. It’d dissuade me from even thinking about running.

But he’s got hiiigh hopes...!

I will give him credit. He tried to own his past with a few BS reasons. I’m pretty boarding old white dude and I couldn’t run for political office. Of course I’m a conservative constitutionalist.

Yeah, like what about that party he attended 34 years ago (or was it 36 years ago - doesn't matter - sometime during the 1980s)? In that state (I think it was Maryland, but it could have been Virginia, or maybe Florida - anyway: East of the Mississippi)? Where he (or maybe one of his frat-boy buddies, I dunno) said something mocking and/or faintly racist that traumatized my polio-stricken sister (who identifies as a male Eskimo) when I repeated it to her, years later, while undergoing drug-induced hypno-therapy to treat the panic attacks I suffer from due to having had 500 sex partners (including maybe my "beach friends?") before I graduated high school.

Yeah, that's the ticket!

Regards,
