Despite acknowledging that she should not do so, on her current book tour United States Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor nevertheless waded into politicking, bashing both the Federal Government’s response to Hurricane María in Puerto Rico and exhorting Latino voters to go to the polls “to change this life for us Latinos.”
In separate interviews with Telemundo and Univision, Sotomayor’s partisan edge was evident. On its October 16 national evening newscast, Telemundo featured Sotomayor’s message as part of that network’s Get-Out-The-Vote (GOTV) campaign, currently being deployed in partnership with an array of politically liberal-aligned voter mobilization organizations (including Voto Latino, UnidosUS, Hispanic Federation and Mi Familia Vota)...

What if prominent, currently serving Generals and Admirals went on the hustings, endorsing candidates..?

If Alito or Thomas did this, the Democrats would be outraged and calling for their resignation or impeachment. Disgraceful but not surprising.
This should be discussed openly (I guess meaning a Trump tweet). If this is OK to Americans, then all SC Justices can hit the campaign trail for anyone. So much for non-political.

No matter how she rules going forward, it will have no impact on Supreme Court decisions.
At best, she is now just a fat fiction writer who uses twice as much toilet paper than most.

Why is a sitting Justice writing a book and giving political speeches?
I've spent most of my life feeling that minorities deserved more from society, and that I should do my part to make that happen. That said, I believe strongly now that the best things we can do for minorities is to treat them as Americans, with the same privileges of citizenship that all of us are supposed to have. No less, no more. They should see themselves the same way, Americans like the rest of us. Sotomayer CLEARLY identifies as a Hispanic more than she does as an American. That's very, very racist of her, and highly counterproductive to the mission of America to be a fair, free, inclusive society.
The amount of anti-white hatred in this country is ridiculous, and very dangerous.
