President Donald Trump’s deputies have announced they will soon cancel the work permits which were awarded to 100,000 foreign visitors under a controversial outsourcing program created by President Barack Obama.
The planned November announcement of the cancellation will be a boost to millions of U.S. professionals — young and old — who lose opportunities, jobs, and salaries to the many visa-workers imported by companies and investors.
Many U.S. graduates have already lost jobs and salaries because the federal government allows U.S. companies to outsource their jobs to a low-wage workforce of roughly 1.5 million imported college-graduates. The foreign workers — nearly all of whom are Indian or Chinese — get their work permits via several visa programs, including the H-1B and L-1 visa programs.

I was led to believe thes people were better workers. Hungrier and smarter. However they come from over populated cultures where you just play the game more than we do here. CEO’s are clueless.
This is a little payback to the Tech types who have shown their domestic workers so much love.
Excellent. I’ve talked about this here for years. The big banks are stuffed full of cheap labor H1b visa Indians. This is ridiculous. You can’t tell me there aren’t enough qualified Americans who want those jobs.
Any canceling of ANY Obama anything is fine with me. Did Trump ever do away with all of Obama’s EO’s he signed???

What never factors into the corporate cost of an H1B worker is the efficiencies lost in the name of cheaper prices. I worked at a logistics company with an extremely smart Indian fellow who could program like there is no tomorrow. Fluent in multiple programming languages and could make most American DBA’s envious.
Problem was, he took everything literally. I would give him his assignments and it took three times longer to complete. He would stop working and for days wouldn’t mention anything. Then when I asked him where the assignment is he would say he didn’t understand what I was asking from him. Of course he could have asked for clarification after I gave him the assignment and said, “do you have any questions?” Meanwhile, my American staff completed their assignments and were in a wait period. If my developers were only sourced to my project, I could burn through 10-15k a week in down time.
Apparently this is common in American industry and not sure how much it costs companies annually. They see the resource costs and potential savings from bringing in H1B, but rarely recognize the project overruns because of this. During my project, where I was not required to track costs, (we had someone who did it for us) in the background I did in fact check the costs and although my project came in within the 10% margin and the project being touted as a success, my not having the H1B, I would have gone live a month earlier and saved close to 150k. And I could have used that money to bring on 2-3 more staff and shaved even more time off the project without any cost overruns.
Send them all home. America first!
I got laid off from a big bank on Oct 9 after 41 years there. Cheap labor being a big reason. I am happy however since I get a severance to enter into retirement. I lot of others are not so lucky.

It started with Y2K. Businesses saw these imports would work for peanuts, huddled them in spartan living quarters and kissed the American workers goodbye.
I experienced the same sort of thing. I worked my tail off, about 60 hours per week plus coming in at any odd hour of the day or night, weekends and holidays, whenever anyone I supported needed something. I feel I had my revenge, though.
I was "replaced" by 1.5 30-something women willing to work for less than half my salary and benefits. Both of them quit within the month, because they had not expected to have to work so hard, or for so many hours.
Took the company more than three months to find someone satisfactory, and she made more money than I did, plus they still had to bring in a second person part-time.
I've found out since that I had an excellent case for age discrimination. 59 years old, 24.5 years on the job with that company, and they made me submit a job application and resume, to compete to keep my job. After I turned 60 and hit 25 years, my severance package and retirement benefits would have been half again as large.
