“A second Poe-sized lock was authorized in 1986 but has languished under several Administrations. It was President Trump who made this a national priority,” commented James H.I. Weakley, President of Lake Carriers’ Association, the trade association representing U.S.-flag vessel operators on the Great Lakes.

Funny I didn't hear about this on the news today. Only heard about someone mailing firecrackers that didn't go off to various politicians.

Wow! Improving the throughput of the Great Lakes waterway system is fantastic and has to be good for moving bulk materials, manufactured goods, and exports.

President Trump is amazing...he thinks of everything!

Video of a ship moving through the Poe Lock at Sault Ste. Marie, MI.

Watching a Ship Move Through Poe Lock

Poe lock accommodates 1,000 foot long vessels. Grain and iron ore are the biggest products hauled through the lock.

Wiki --> "The Soo Locks (sometimes spelled Sault Locks, but pronounced "soo") are a set of parallel locks, operated and maintained by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Detroit District, which enable ships to travel between Lake Superior and the lower Great Lakes. They are located on the St. Marys River between Lake Superior and Lake Huron, between the Upper Peninsula of the US state of Michigan and the Canadian province of Ontario. They bypass the rapids of the river, where the water falls 21 feet. The locks pass an average of 10,000 ships per year, despite being closed during the winter from January through March, when ice shuts down shipping on the Great Lakes. The winter closure period is used to inspect and maintain the locks."

This was a major infrastructure bill (waterworks), that passed 99-1 in the Senate, because it brings so many wanted projects to so many regions.

If that had been the lede, many local news sources might see that long sought local projects were finally realized, and there was a danger that local voters would find out that President Trump had delivered bigly again.

Also buried by the hoax bombs, was the announcement of the first Arctic Ocean oil project - which is going to save the Trans-Alaska Pipeline, and enrich the Native American population up there for a generation.
