Posted on 10/25/2018 1:19:27 PM PDT by Kaslin
RUSH: I switched over to CNN, and I caught the governor of Ohio there, John Kasich, and he is being interviewed by I dont know who the reporter was at CNN. Doesnt matter. Being interested by the caravan and America and how to deal with it. I just I just want you to hear this. We have two bites. Heres No. 1.
KASICH: We have a caravan coming north. We dont want all those people coming across our border. And there are ways to deal with it. I believe that if we would check those who are legitimately in need of asylum could be vetted before they even get to the bored. But, you know what? Were born America. You know how lucky we are to be born in America and not be born in Guatemala, where they would say to your daughter, you know, if you dont do what we want, we will rape your daughter or we will kill your son if hes not a drug mule? Now, theyre marching north. And, you know what? It could easily have been all of us, that were in the caravan, that were marching north, trying to save our families and save our children.
RUSH: All right. So what is The ruse here, or the technique here, is moral equivalence. There but for the grace of God go I. Phil Donahue used to do this all the time, Phil Donahue would host his show and when the subject of illegal immigration would come up, hed start preaching about the accident of his birth. You know, I was born just a few miles inside the U.S. border, and look the difference its made for me.
And he started extolling the guilt that he felt over how the accident of his birth resulted in him being an American and how basically unfair that was to other people in the world. As though being born into a country of prosperity and decency is something to feel guilty about. And it may be something to feel very grateful for. I have no quarrel with that. But its how you deal with this that matters. We simply cant take in everybody in the world.
The answer, the solution is to spread our area of dominant influence and to get rid of tyrannical regimes and dictatorships which treat their people like dirt and condemn that and do our best to spread our way of life around under the belief that its good and decent. But there are way too many people dont think that were the good guys and they think that the American way of life is an imposition to others! And that we dont have the right to impose our views on people!
But somehow we ought to stand aside and let everybody who wants in, in because of our guilt. And he says, You know, theyre marching north. It could easily have been all of us, that were in the caravan, that were marching north trying to save our families and save our children. But it isnt. You know, you can deal with what-ifs and could-bes and all of that, but it isnt, unless youre trying to accomplish something else. So heres Governor Kasich now continuing his thought.
KASICH: We got to start putting ourselves in the shoes of other people. Weve got to start thinking about the consequences that others suffer. And if weve been spared those by the grace of God, let us be appreciative, let us count our blessings and let us reach out to those who have less and lets stop putting up walls around ourselves and not understanding the plight, the trouble, and the problems of others. It is not right, and the Lord doesnt want it, and our people at their hearts want to reach out to others. Look at what they do in these storms. They go and they rescue people they dont know. They put em in their homes. They feed em. Thats America! Not all this garbage and this division and yelling and screaming and hatred on all sides.
RUSH: So mad, man, something is really gotten to Governor Kasich here! Let us be appreciative. Let us count our blessings. Let us reach out to those who have less. Lets stop putting up walls around ourselves. The Lord doesnt want it. Its not right. Look at what people do in storms. They go and it had the rescue people they dont Yes, we do! We go to storm desolated places and we help them recover there.
We do more than any other nation in the world in terms of compassion, aid, welfare, disaster relief, you name it, and it still isnt enough! This is the point! It still isnt enough! No matter what we do, it isnt enough. And now the accident of our birth and the unfair advantages that gives us require that we, what? Take care of them, let them in. There have to be limits on these things. And it all circles back, whether you want to admit it or not or acknowledge it or not, self-reliance.
And there is this assumption that while we are able to engage in self-reliance and responsibility, a lot of people arent. Therefore, we have to do it for them. Its good education. Its not good role modeling and certainly not good leading. But the overall effort to make the caravan appear to be our fault, to make poverty and destitution around the world our fault when we do more to alleviate it than anybody in the world ever has or ever will.
RUSH: Jerry in Springfield, Massachusetts. Youre next. Hello, sir.
CALLER: Hi, Rush! How are you?
RUSH: Im good.
CALLER: Good. Good. I just wanted to dovetail on your point about America giving more than any other nation. I think what you were talking about was the government itself. But the individuals also give more than any other nation. The point is that I have the choice when I give to charity who I give it to. I dont have the right to tell my neighbor who they should give it to you, and thats essentially what the governments doing. Theyre telling us who theyre gonna give basically what they got from our tax dollars. They dont give us the choice, and thats my point.
RUSH: Its a good point too. Its a classic illustration. Hes reacting to the sound bites we played of John Kasich, who was wringing his hands in guilt over the fact the caravans coming and its just by the grace of God that were not in it, and that because were not in it but could be in it except by the grace of God weve gotta stop building walls cause God doesnt want that, and weve gotta realize that were just plain lucky.
Its kind of like Richard Gephardt: Winners of lifes lottery. You know, we were just minding our own business one day and we got conceived in a womb in America, and we got born into America. And, man, thats so much luck that we shouldnt feel theres anything special about us. So the fact that we werent conceived in wombs down in Nicaragua and Guatemala means that we owe. We really owe, and weve gotta learn to walk in the shoes of others.
Thats the wrong way to look at it. Nobody has any trouble imagining what its like to be poor. Thats why so many people strive not to be, Governor. It isnt hard to imagine. We dont have a lot of people In fact, most people in this country go up and down in terms of annual income. There are people that earn a lot of money and lose it all. There are people that earn an average amount of money all their lives and thats it. But basically people in this country know poverty. If theyve never been in it, they certainly dont want to be.
They know enough to know not to be, and thats the great thing about America. If you dont want to be, there are ways to avoid being in poverty. Poverty in this country, by the way, is a relative thing compared to poverty around the world. United States poverty is not really poverty. I get in trouble every time I point that out, but it happens to be true statistically, financially, however you want to look at it.
But the way to look at these disparities is not to simply say, Oh! Oh! That could be me, and then to run around feeling guilty about it. The way to deal with this is not to run around constantly imagining, Well, you know, one accident and I could have been in that caravan, and then having that impact the way you deal with it. It doesnt help anybody. Its not a solution. But it does make you look like you have lots of compassion and lots of care.
Thats the great thing about liberalism: It never solves anything. Liberalism is a gutless choice because you never have to solve anything. All you have to do is talk about how much you care, and all you have to do is tell people how much pain youre seeing and how it makes so you uncomfortable. (impression) Its just so unfair! Look at the suffering and the starvation, and you are automatically credited as a person with great compassion. You havent solved anything. All youve done is say that youve recognized it.
And youre telling everybody else theyve gotta do something about it.
And thats liberalism. Solutions are where the answer is, and solutions to these problems are exactly what have been happening in the United States the past two years! Solutions!
RUSH: Sue in Ocala, Florida, great to have you with us on the EIB Network. Hi.
CALLER: Hi, Rush. Its an honor.
RUSH: Thank you.
CALLER: And Im curious why little is mentioned regarding the health of the caravan members. Isnt anyone concerned about what diseases may be coming into our country, polio type disease, whooping cough, once eradicated are showing up in our country. Is the CDC on the border? We screen people coming into our country.
RUSH: Let me tell you something. Sue, I brought this up last week. Last week there were stories of mysterious reappearances of diseases previously wiped out in America. A Polio-like disease was one and other diseases that started affecting people that we had long ago eradicated. And the news stories, honest to God, featured experts claiming to be stumped! We cant figure out why or how any of these brand-new diseases would be happening to the United States right now. Uh, really?
Now, the caravan, the story today And, by the way, I dont like that word caravan. Thats not what this is. But for the (interruption) Okay, call it an army, call it mob, whatever, but there is a I have a couple of stories today which Ill get to the next hour, Sue, of rampant disease now springing up and spreading amongst the caravanees. And its got some of them very, very sick, and theyve had to stand aside, step aside, stand down, can no longer move forward, theyre exhausted because of the heat and so forth.
But it does specifically reference the spreading of disease. And the fact that theres an unwillingness. I mean, these stories like week were just amazing. They were hilarious, aside from the seriousness of it. Itd be like if you caught, you know, seven Islamist radicals with a bomb to blow up something and he failed to make the connection to radical Islam is exactly what this was. It was purposely avoiding the obvious.
“I believe that if we would check those who are legitimately in need of asylum”
They seem to have about 5,000 buddies.
Look at the pictures. See anyone who looks like a distressed mother and child, or do they look more like young men who should be in their own military and fighting for their home AT HOME! Still, the Democrats will sift through the crowd until the find one such pair, or they’ll just add their own.
Family values don't stop at the border.
I hope I missed the sarcasm.
But if you mean it then you are packing up you and yours to go to Honduras and Guatemala to help these people. Or does your values stop at the border?
Be a darned shame if some MS-13 gang bangers gang-raped his wife....yep, be a real shame.
"Children, small little bites." Lol
Both are paraphrased from Jeb Bush and George W. Bush.
“KASICH: We got to start putting ourselves in the shoes of other people. Weve got to start thinking about the consequences that others suffer. And if weve been spared those by the grace of God, let us be appreciative, let us count our blessings and let us reach out to those who have less and lets stop putting up walls around ourselves and not understanding the plight, the trouble, and the problems of others.”
How about understanding the plight of US citizens, Gov. Kasich?
There are rocks and trees in Honduras. Enough to build lots of houses. And gardening help is at their fingertips.
If 5,000 honest hombres march into a village, a few local bullies will demonstrate about how fast and far a human can run.
The tools these people would use if they got jobs in the USA are cheap.
They can be just as productive in Honduras, if not more so, since they don’t get snow and ice like Ohio.
US citizens need US jobs.
Stop ALL immigration now !
He knows this caravan is not comprised of starving, oppressed people, who spontaneously decided to march to the promised land.
This is a put up job to allow criminals, drug smugglers, and child traffickers in to the U.S. to undermine America.
Sure, there are some who have a legitimate objective, but they too are being USED by the criminal, anti-American element.
Who is in his circle of friends? He must be involved with people who support and encourage his ideas.
Who are the people in his base he's trying to appeal to? Are he and Jeb so removed from reality they actually believe what they say?
“United States poverty is not really poverty.”
Monthly mortgage payment $1,103
Amount in bank $900
Failure to come up with $203 means losing nearly everything you have ever worked for.
That’s one form of American poverty.
Just change parties already, cuz you're sure as hell not one of US.
“This is a put up job to allow criminals, drug smugglers, and child traffickers in to the U.S. to undermine America.”
However, I think another objective is to avoid paying the migrant smugglers as usual.
That usually costs $4,000 to $15,000 per person.
Not all military age Hondurans can come up with that kind of money.
I was in what used to be the leading mall in the area.
There was more help than customers in most of the stores.
These American retail jobs are going to disappear when the leases are up.
Let them apply for asylum in Guatemala or Mexico.
The asylum law states that one has to apply in the FIRST country in which they arrive.
If there ever was a more dishonest false dichotomy, I don’t know where I’ve seen it. I can be in favor of orderly immigration, including a wall, and still be sensible of and sympathetic to the plight of Central Americans. Kasich is dishonest, punto y fin.
