Lawyer Michael Avenatti tweeted Thursday that he is ready to cooperate with a Justice Department investigation into himself and client Julie Swetnick as soon as "tonight."
His tweet, directed at Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), came hours after Grassley announced he is referring Swetnick and Avenatti to the Justice Department for a potential criminal investigation into whether they made false statements to Congress about Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh
"@ChuckGrassley, lets start the investigation tonight," Avenatti tweeted on Thursday evening. "I will make my client available for a sworn interview and you can make Judge Kavanaugh available for a sworn interview."
"We also have 9 other witnesses we want interviewed and specific documents we want requested," he added. "Lets go."
Avenatti represents Swetnick, who last month made a series of shocking allegations against Kavanaugh during his confirmation process.
Swetnick in a sworn affidavit claimed that Kavanaugh in the 1980s attended parties where women were gang-raped. Swetnick said Kavanaugh engaged in a pattern of exploitative and non-consensual behavior with girls at those high school parties.
Multiple news outlets were unable to corroborate her allegations, and they were treated more gingerly than the sexual allegations against Kavanaugh from two other women.
Grassley on Thursday said that in addition to making false statements, he is asking for the Justice Department to look into whether the two sought to obstruct his panel's investigation of the allegations against Kavanaugh.
"The law prohibits such false statements to Congress and obstruction of congressional committee investigations," Grassley wrote. "For the law to work, we cant just brush aside potential violations. I dont take lightly making a referral of this nature, but ignoring this behavior will just invite more of it in the future."
That's not how it works, creepy.
The dude is self destructing in realtime.
I want a no knock raid on Avenatti. Not sure if he still has an office but he’s got to live somewhere.
I love how this jackhole thinks he’s in charge of anything. Dude, you JUST LOST a $38-million judgement to a former partner the court said you tried to defraud. Might be time to stop playing pretend lawyer.
It is indeed fun to watch.
Grassley has the transcripts of that psycho womans testimony to Congress and the contradictory transcripts of her television interview
Let the games begin
Can’t wait for Ballsy to get exposed as well.
“...hes got to live somewhere.”
How about a “black” detention facility in Eastern Europe where the CIA can use enhanced interrogation on him?
Let’s start years ago CPD.
CPL has obviously hired himself to be his own attorney, so this will be another complete disaster.
Obviously he thinks trying to slime Kavanaugh AGAIN is a winning strategy for himself and the Rat party.
CPL thinks he can bait Grassley into doing something impulsive and stupid. Bwah hah hah hah!!!
Can we see CPD’s Tax Statements?
He’s also going to have to recuse himself as counsel for the lying ho because that’s an obvious conflict of interest if he’s a co-defendant.
Maybe he lives in a trailer behind Stormy’s Horse stable in Forney Tx
Dont think he quite inderstands how this works
“Grassley has the transcripts of that psycho womans testimony to Congress and the contradictory transcripts of her television interview
Let the games begin”
Sessions will make sure there are no waves...he’ll quash it.
Avenutti, just like Fredo Cuomo, thinks he’s a real tough guy. I hope he gets disbarred and prosecuted.
Mikey Avenatti.... modern day Gary Hart...::
