The murder rate is based upon the percentage of the general population...

So 50 murders in a town of, say 100;
is worse than 50 murders in a town of 200.
(50 murders in a town of 50 would be worse of all!)

Poor Chicago can't help but feel left out lately...

Uh-uh, 100 murders in a town of 50 would be even worse, because that would mean they have to import people to murder. :-)
