WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump said on Wednesday the United States could send as many as 15,000 military troops to the border with Mexico, as he hardens his stance against a caravan of migrants fleeing violence and poverty in Central America. The Pentagon has said it has identified about 7,000 active-duty troops, including about 2,000 on standby, that could be deployed to the southern border.

Supplement the troops on the ground with the presence of AC-130 gunships, A-10 Warthogs, and frequent low-level passes with assault helicopters. That should provide plenty of shock and awe up close and ugly for even the most intrepid of adventurous souls that approach the international boundary with malice aforethought.

Another caravan is said to be headed northward that is armed with guns and firebombs. If they lob one firebomb toward American troops I would hope their ROE will allow blowing the would be-bombers to smithereens. Our troops will have aim between the women and children.

I don't get it yet. The media keeps saying the troops won't encounter the caravan. They're only there to support the Border Patrol.

There is no way the Border Patrol can contain/detain 3-6 thousand people.
