“Today” show weatherman Al Roker is under fire for dressing up on Halloween as Doc Brown, the quirky — and white — time machine inventor in the “Back to the Future” trilogy.
Some social media users asked why it was all right for him to dress up as a Caucasian character, while NBC canceled his colleague Megyn Kelly’s show after her controversial blackface comments.
“I’m going to say this one last time, but the folks who get it, understand and the ones who DON’T, won’t,” Roker tweeted to explain why his ‘80s-themed costume was not an example of whiteface.
“I can be Doc Brown, and I wear the outfit and wig and not change my skin color if you’re white, you can be President Obama if you want. Just don’t color your skin!”

If I put on a tie and jacket and say I’m Martin Luther King, then I just have a really, really bad costume. I would say it’s insultingly bad.
If you’re going to dress up, then dress up. If you want to appear as someone of a different race, then actually do it. But if blackface is out, and if whiteface is out, then people should skip the “cultural appropriation” and just dress up according to their skin color.
I think Roker is way off base.
TV personalities and news readers are the jesters and clowns of the 21st century.
All they do is entertain the dummies of society, which sadly these days is most.

Seems it matters who you are, as far as blackface being racist. Any number of leftist media figures have appeared in blackface with no controversy whatsoever. So, leftists can do it.

I still don’t get why some people get their panties in a twist over a temporary costume involving some makeup to change a persons skin color.
It’s a costume. It means nothing racist whatsoever. It’s no different than news people piling on a pound of makeup to do the tv news or actors getting made over for a part they are playing.
This PC crap needs to be squashed.
THAT is black privilege. The ability to commit a hate crime and not get arrested for it, while white privilege means being arrested for things that were never considered a hate crime until just before the white did what they arrested him for.
