1 Nov 20181,555 BOSTON (AP) — The Boston Red Sox say they haven’t decided whether they will visit the White House if invited by President Donald Trump.

Manager Alex Cora said Thursday he wants to use the platform he has as a World Series champion in the right way. A native Puerto Rican, Cora has been outspoken about the need for help on the island since it was devastated by Hurricane Maria.

The traditional White House visit has become increasingly partisan, with some players declining to make the trip because of their political views.

I really don’t know who gives a crap if any of these sports “stars” go...In my opinion, it’s their loss...

I wouldn’t invite them. It is an honor that they should be eager to receive, and clearly they feel a little mixed about it. So ... stay home.

The President should extend a single invitation which, since the Red Sox pride themselves as a team and are being honored as such, requires either all attend or none attend.

Agreed.

I wouldn’t even think about inviting any of these so-called sports heroes. Don’t give them even the slightest chance to say “no.”

I would, however, invite the player or players who have stated publicly they want to meet the president and really do it up right - in the oval office.

Na-na-na-na-na-na to all the other wackos on the team.

The problem with many in this country is they have forgotten that professional athletics is nothing more than entertainment. Too many live their live vicariously through these teams and athletes.

Most of them ain’t ‘Mericans anyway, as are the majority of MLB players now. Hence, the drop in attendance and viewership. Why doesn’t Venezuela, Dominican Republic, etc. start their own league.
