With its bogus claims of ever greater triumphs of renewable energy, government mandates and exorbitant subsidies, the global warming scam closely resembles Stalinist Lysenkoism and the erstwhile Soviet propaganda of the glorious achievements of socialism.
Unfortunately, reality tends to wreak havoc with the fantasies of socialist charlatans and so it has with renewable energy, the putative solution to global warming.
There are at least three problems with renewable energy (wind and solar), which are not surmountable. First, it is intermittent i.e. not reliable, because there are times when the wind does not blow and the sun does not shine. In fact, the Germans have invented a word for it, they call it Dunkelflaute (dark doldrums). This means that there must be a base, non-renewable, grid load maintained at all times. This is hugely expensive, apart from making a mockery of the whole concept of 100% renewable energy.

Very good article, with a good link inside to an article about Lysenkoism. Thanks for posting it, as I missed it on my daily visit to American Thinker.
What will all the Weedeater repairmen do then?
2. If you are going to build, staff, fuel and maintain base load power plants which will produce a lower level of output, the cost per KW will skyrocket.
Ha, ha, you’re right! Green energy is the full employment plan for engine repairmen.
Time for a Broken Window lesson in economics.
The dolts at our public electric utility keeps promising that they are on the road to using 100% renewable energy from wind power. They claim it will save us all kinds of money. *sigh*
“First, it is intermittent i.e. not reliable, because there are times when the wind does not blow and the sun does not shine.”
Simple solution: attach kinetic generators to all the people, so when the sun doesn’t shine and their solar-powered heaters go out, you can harvest energy from their shivering!
You guys are full of genius ideas. ;-)
Limit of conversion, energy balance, engine damage, pollution from manufacture/disposal... blah blah blah, green buzz kill, dude.
Watching for the coming wind turbine maintenance $$$ from stress cracking, corrosion, turbine wear, etc.
Not to mention when they start falling apart and the pieces fall off and kill somebody.
I think renewable energy is here to stay. Unless and until it is thoroughly debunked over time. There is an entire generation of people who have invested their education in renewable energy. As a business, it will remain part of the marketplace for quite some time.
Even Germany, which led the way in renewables (to its ultimate regret), will not suddenly cut up all its solar panels into guitar picks.
It doesn’t take an energy engineer expert to understand you need to pay for TWICE the generating capacity you used to pay for:
1) the windmills and solar cells and
2) the backup conventional plant (or batteries) for the dunkelflaute.
The only reason you don’t see 2X in your bill is half of it is paid out of your generous tax subsidies.
A tad ‘off topic’ - but related to the ‘greenies’ - e.g. plastic pollution.
South Carolina has just outlawed plastic bags in grocery and other stores, replacing them with expensive brown paper bags. They are bulky, inconvenient and probably costly, especially the ones with handles.
The expense is resulting in obviously higher prices!!!!

Yes, that always happens. Next they will demand we roll in wheelbarrows to carry our groceries home.
This is a great article worth reading all the way through.
For the past 3 days, I have been buying 87-mid grade which has zero ethanol. At a new Maverick station at Chambers and I-70 in Aurora, Colorado. My gas mileage has increased by 2 miles per gallon. Of course that gas station also sells gas with ethanol. The customers get a choice.
years ago, I had a Honda Prelude and drove almost exclusively on the interstates at 70 mph +- with cruise control
Gas with ethanol always yielded 3 mpg lower mileage
They do not work for things where you need a large and constant flow of energy.
Which is basically everything else.
So, if you have a off the grid cabin they work great.
If you are running a hospital they are less than useless.
There is a website called Pure Gas that lists stations all over the US that sell real gas. They also have an app. It could use some improvement, but it’s still helpful when traveling.
