Not only did Northam win the Virginia race, he won by 9 points, a polling error more substantial than anything we saw in 2016. Gillespie, it turns out, actually won more votes than any previous statewide Republican candidate; he had enthusiasm at his back. It’s just that Democrats had more—and they blew the doors off on Election Day. The whole spectacle was yet another blow to polling and to punditry, two industries sullied by Trump’s victory in 2016.

Author posits that perhaps this years midterm elections will play out like the Virginia election last year. Gillespie was closing fast in the polls and many predicted he’d win, but Northam killed it. Republicans turned out their voters just fine - it was the biggest turnout for them in a gov race EVER.....:but Dems brought tons of NEW voters to the polls. And it wasn’t close.

Between Boston and Northern Virginia, there is a Blue wave (with lots of aggrieved NE College Students and recent immigrants); and in a few other cities, but Trump is going to bring out record numbers in rural counties. - JMHO

PS - VA is a 'special case,' John Warner(R) hasn't supported a Republican in decades; and there's lots of Never Trumpers there.

Sorry, but Gillespie had no enthusiasm behind him.
He was another milquetoast Bush League Republican that refused to side with the citizens and the rule of law until the end of the campaign.
He only got as many votes as he did because we are so sick of Democrat Governors.

It got me to early vote for McSally. I dislike Sinema more than I admire McSally. More than a few Bush the Elder, Romney and McCain voters here felt the same way when the alternative was Mr. Clinton or Obama.

I meant to suggest that two years may have been insufficient time for Team Trump to eliminate Demz election fraud.

We know Dorkbama and Creepy Joe encouraged fraudulent elections.

When the Demz get whooped, they will scream, “invalid election!”
