Did you read the comment section———the kid was calling the teacher racial insults————taunting him-——it IS an alternative school——so probably many problems.

That said,the teacher should NOT have hit the kid——but the kid was a troublemaker.

One website comment says ‘I’m a student at that school, and it wasn’t about a dress code. That student used racist words against the teacher, and somebody threw a basketball at the teacher. Totally unnecessary!”

If this is the case, nothing changes. The teacher displayed an alarming and sustained lack of self control. I could see one or two punches in self defense, but it wasnt in self defense. The teacher kept advancing while the kid kept retreating. He was out of control, even when a (yellow vested) female school employee stepped in and tried to pull the man back. Makes you wonder if this happened before in one of his classrooms.

This was a comment by a student who was allegedly there:

First of all this happened today! Friday November second. And second of all, it didn’t escalate because of a dress code. I am a student at this High School and i saw the video and heard from witnesses. The student in the video was saying verbal and racial things to the teacher before the teacher had thrown the first punch. The student is at fault here, this particular teacher is actually kind and cool with everyone. Unnecessary and racial comments as well as getting a basketball thrown at him by the student provoked the action. Please get your facts straight to whoever did this report.

Back in the '60's, I had a Math teacher named Hooper - he was only about 5'6" and slender and we called him Hoppity Hooper. One day he was walking between desks during a quiz and the resident hood (about 6'2" and maybe 190 lbs) spit on his shoe as he walked by...all of a sudden, the "hood" was out of his seat and slammed against the wall and Hopper had his ears clenched tight in his fists...Hooper said he had been in 'Nam and had better than the guy trying to kill him and had to kill folks to stay alive, he was damned if he was going to have a POS like this guy spitting on him...

Time were different - Mr. Hooper kept his job and the hood never acted up in school again that I was aware of...
