GOP Senate candidate targeted with dirty tricks in Missouri

Josh Hawley, the Republican candidate for Senate in Missouri, on Saturday, demanded an FBI probe of a dirty-tricks campaign mailer that wrongly accuses him of opposing gun rights.

The mailers urge voters to back a Libertarian or Independent voter over Mr. Hawley and do not include required disclaimers identifying who paid for them.

“Voters telling me about fake & illegal mailers pro-Dem group is putting out. There should be an FBI investigation,” Mr. Hawley, the state attorney general, wrote on Twitter.

He called for Democrat incumbent Sen. Claire McCaskill to cooperate in a probe.

If Dems win, no one will ever be held accountable for this.

It’s just another ‘RAT dirty trick. They repeat these tactics EVERY election where they feel it may be necessary to win.

By the way, IMHO, LOSERTARIAN CANDIDATES running are usually put up or motivated/encouraged by ‘RATS (& sometimes RINOs) to divide conservative votes. For every Losertarian that is actually voted into office there are probably a hundred ‘RATS who owe their victory to having a Losertarian candidate on the ballot.

Is that a federal crime?

It's not a crime to encourage voters to vote a certain way. What these ads don't do is tell you who paid for it which is against the law.
Got one in my mail today.

Similar if not the same scam they ran in Montana, but it backfired on them as the Libertarian they were touting quit the race as a result and threw his support to the Republican.

McCaskill’s old girls are sneaky and nasty, sometimes, even when they should be doing legitimate work in their government offices.

Hawley or his people should have a nice talk with the other candidates in MO then.

I’m in MO and all those political mailers go straight into the wood stove without having been read.

I’m listed in the white pages and registered republican so we’ve been getting several phone calls a day too. They spoof local phone numbers too so if we don’t know the phone number, we don’t answer.

Can’t wait til Tues, then Wed.

Yep, same thing here in WA. We’re not listed in the white pages and still get the spoof local number calls, several a day. We won’t answer unless we know the number and at least 90% of those callers don’t leave a message.

I’m with you, looking forward to the results and believe the RATs will go ballistic with their loss.
